Oddities

First, a brief backstory. I'm a cadet, and a classmate and I rent a two-room apartment. We got such a nice apartment that if I were a believer, I'd be calling every priest in the church to sprinkle it with holy water. The most colorful thing about our life is that a crazy woman lives downstairs—a former hospital chief physician with two university degrees. This person has a habit of shouting at the top of her lungs phrases like, "You disgusting person, don't touch the top of your head with your tarpaulin boot! You disgusting person, stop stomping and squeaking! You disgusting person, it hurts!" Or even just, "Ah-ah-ah!" And her voice—God forbid—is excellent, and the concepts of "day" and "night" are alien to her. But that's just a side note.

So, strange things happen in our apartment. I was sleeping one night in my room (my neighbor was in the other room) and woke up to someone screaming. At first, I thought it was the woman screaming again, but I heard a voice that clearly wasn't hers, and it wasn't coming from outside, but from inside the room, seemingly from the opposite corner—it sounded like a woman in a fit of hysterics trying to sing something. Then it was over, and it was quiet. The next morning, I asked my neighbor if he'd watched a movie on his computer the night before. He said he'd been asleep. And I don't think I dreamed it either, as I'd woken up, listened for a long time, turned on the light, checked my watch...

About two weeks after the voice incident in the apartment, this happened. My bed was against the wall opposite the door to the other room. A desk with a computer was at the head of the bed, in the corner, and my alarm clock was on the computer case. I was asleep again and suddenly woke up, feeling as if someone was insistently waking me up. I open my eyes and see someone standing by the bed in the darkness, pointing at the computer. I figured we'd overslept and my neighbor was waking me up. I jump up, turn on the light, grab my alarm clock—it's three in the morning. Half asleep, I think maybe something's wrong with the computer, look—everything's fine, and only then do I realize there's no one in the room. I don't know, maybe I dreamed it, but it felt very real. Incidentally, I heard that voice at three in the morning too (I specifically checked the time).

We also often get phone calls, but they're silent. And sometimes, when I can't sleep, I lie in bed and clearly feel like a cat is walking across my legs (anyone with a cat at home knows), but we don't have a cat.
