Eire.(chapter 5)
"This tea is delicious, no one makes it better than you." "
Thanks, listen, Anne, let's forget about that and the fact that I ever asked you about Sarah. I don't know if I'm ready to hear what she did, I don't know if I'm ready to understand N., if there is anything to understand.
" "Oh, no, my dear, you were the one who told me that once you start something, you have to finish it, no matter how hard it is.
" "But now it's different.
" "Sit quietly and listen." N. knew that Sarah's grandmother had died. In those difficult times for Sarah, he wanted to be with her. He didn't go to football camp because it was summer, and he got an invitation to the camp because he was one of the best players. But he loved her more than football, which is rare among guys.
"Him? I don't believe it, for him football and golf are something of a letdown, then "girls" don't matter to him.
" "That's how it is now, but he used to be different. " She didn't appreciate it, told him he could go back to his friends because she'd had enough of him. She closed herself off and wouldn't even let him into her dream world, the world where her grandmother lived. Harsh words flew—believe me, N. is what he's like when he gets carried away—and then, believe me, he went completely berserk. He regretted it, but he knew this argument wasn't just any old thing; roses and a note wouldn't change the situation. He decided to do more for her than send flowers. He wrote a song for her, but it didn't end there. You heard him sing "Stars of New York," his voice is amazing, anyway, why am I telling you this, you know it. Duffy helped him compose the background music, played the guitar, and they recorded it. I don't know much about it, but it turned out great. N. asked me to give the original to Sarah. That evening, when I stopped by to ask if she liked it, she called him in front of me. I was sure, just like he was, that she wanted to make up with him after listening to his song. Although I didn't like the look in her eyes, and I guess I was right. Because it wasn't at all what N. and I thought it would be.
