One Step Too Close Part III

Adam met with his friends the very next day. He told them about the whole sect thing. His proposal was met with extreme dissatisfaction. Who would volunteer to commit suicide? After much persuasion, two volunteers showed up.
Adam presented his plan. Together they refined the details. Everything was ready. The boy's friends met with one of the Satanists. They proposed joining their religious group. The matter wasn't so simple. Adam's friends first had to prove they were worthy. They received a mission from the guru himself. Its content wasn't overly complicated. They were to obtain a certain sum of money. The boy, who had given them the mission objective, took care of this.
The guru accepted the future destruction into his ranks. The process of the sect's downfall had begun.
Adam decided not to tell Weronika anything. He didn't want her to be upset. The boy saw that his love hadn't yet revealed all its cards. He wasn't afraid of that, because he believed that love would endure anything. He felt that he loved her. He decided to pursue it.
A few days after their meeting in the park, Adam was walking Weronika home. They were talking and laughing. Suddenly, the boy saw a disturbing sign. A car, about two or three hundred meters away, was picking up speed. Gaining tremendous speed. Adam immediately remembered the guru's words. They knew he would push her away, and in saving her life, he would sacrifice his own. Seeing the car cover the next few meters, Adam began to run across the busy street. In this run, only a miracle saved his life. The accelerating car mounted the sidewalk. Everything was clear now. Adam was right that it was a cult. The vehicle began to speed toward him. The boy took only two steps back, looked around carefully, and waited for the verdict.
Weronika began to scream and cry. She didn't want to lose her boyfriend, the person she loved. The car was approaching rapidly toward him. He stood there as if waiting for something. The vehicle was now only a few meters away. Adam jumped toward the shop he was standing next to. The door was slightly ajar, so a tap of the shoulder was enough to get him inside. Suddenly, a bang sounded. The sound of horns drowned out the curses of drivers and passersby.
Adam left the store and, this time running across the congested street, ran to Weronika, who had fainted. The boy began to revive her. After a few moments, the girl opened her eyes.
"Honey! You're alive?!!" she began to scream with joy.
The boy gently lifted her and, holding her tightly in his arms, rejoiced with her. When he looked back, all he saw was the totaled car that had just tried to kill him. His hands were shaking like jelly. He was afraid, but he hid it from Weronika to calm her down. Adam walked the girl home. Before saying goodbye, Weronika said:
"Think about whether you really want to be with me. You see what can happen to you if you're with me. You deserve someone better.
" "I know what I'm doing. Trust me. One day these people will disappear and we can peacefully build happiness again. You'll see, everything will be alright."
They hugged each other goodbye and kissed. The boy, however, sensed that this wasn't the end of the adventure. Today he had succeeded, but he feared the day when his luck would be ruined.
A few days later, while Weronika and Adam were walking in the park, several thugs approached them.
"Is that your girlfriend?" one of them asked.
Adam withdrew his left leg, his gaze trained on a weapon he would need if he needed to defend himself. It was a rather thick stick that looked sturdy. The boy began a conversation with the stranger. At the same time, he began mentally planning his defenses.
"What's it to you?" the boy asked.
"I don't know whose dickhead I should smash." The thug's reply sounded like a sentence. "Greetings from Lilith, doll."
"You know what, boys. How many of you are there?" Adam asked. He wanted to buy some time to prepare for defense.
"Three," the surprised bully replied. "
You're not many, boys, oh no," Adam said.
The boy jumped for the stick and, rising, began the attack. After a few moments, the three bullies lay half-conscious on the ground.
"But this fencing is useful for something. Let's get out of here, Bear," the boy said.
Adam had been practicing sword fighting at the community center for three years. The skills he acquired there were put to good use. His brawls with the guru's envoys looked like a dance.
Weronika felt increasingly safer at Adam's side. Although he wasn't a tough guy, he was able to protect her from dangers. Even Lilith couldn't scare her. Thanks to Adam, the guru had lost his authority in the cult. This made him enemy number one.
One day, Adam was riding his bike. Suddenly, his cell phone rang. In the receiver, an ominous voice said only two words: "You're dead." The boy understood—another cult attack. He spotted the enemy. The enemy was trying to hit him again. Adam began to flee through side alleys, reached for the phone, and called his friend. "
Listen, organize a welcoming committee at the square on Baśniowa Street. I have Lilith on my tail."
Adam, fleeing, headed toward the square where his friends were supposed to be waiting. This yard was separated from all streets by a small wall. This prevented any cars from entering. While fleeing, Adam noticed that three cars were following him, and one was trying to hit him.
Just before the square, Adam gained momentum and drove up a small hill. He took to the air, flew about two meters, and crashed into a small wall. A moment later, he jumped off the wall. A thirty-man army was waiting in the square. Four cars stopped at the wall. About twenty people got out. Seeing Adam's small army, they temporarily decided against killing the boy.
A few days later, an opportunity arose to betray the cult. The internal situation allowed for the blame to be placed on the three children. Adam's friends informed him of another Satanist gathering. At this gathering, a woman who had been kidnapped a few days earlier was to be sacrificed.
Adam went to the police station. He told them about the location of the next Satanist mass and about the kidnapped woman. The officer took down the boy's statement. He questioned him about several details, and his answers confirmed his earlier statements.
That evening, AT soldiers entered one of the buildings. They broke down the door and entered the room where a mass was being held, including a female sacrifice. One of the Satanists threw a knife at the policeman, another pulled out a pistol. Shots rang out. Two men fell to the ground, dead. The remaining Satanists were arrested.
Adam received a letter of thanks from the police commander for his help in catching a dangerous criminal. The boy showed the letter to Weronika. The girl was stunned. After a moment, she threw herself at the boy and began screaming. Her main argument was the danger Adam faced. The boy listened to her screams, then interrupted her monologue with a kiss. In that moment, Weronika saw how much she meant to Adam.
Their lives began to return to normal. No one was tormenting them anymore, no one was trying to harm their happiness. A new chapter in their lives had begun.
