Life is unpredictable

The world is beautiful, Rose thought on this special day for her. For both of them, Dominik looked at her tenderly with his green eyes. She also glanced at him briefly, and when their gaze met, a joyful smile spread across her lips. In such a moment, they didn't need words to express their feelings. Today, after a long acquaintance, the time had finally come for this longed-for day to arrive.
Mysterious shadows and gentle sunlight embellished the road surface like an intricate mosaic. A light carriage, harnessed to two gray horses, rattled along the forest path. Sunlight filtering through the branches cast luminous reflections on the horses' flowing snow-white manes. The melodic chirping of birds rang in her ears like bells. Rose gazed around in awe at the exceptionally beautiful surroundings. The leafy forest, in the middle of summer, and on such a clear day, looked truly extraordinary.
They were approaching the wedding venue. The formal reception was to take place in a wooden forest hut, perched on the edge of a clearing. A large, old oak tree stood in the middle of the forest meadow. This location was remote from town, but nearby was the road along which wedding guests arrived in cars and carriages. Everything was already prepared for the bride and groom's arrival. The lavishly laid tables were laden with delicious dishes. The entire hall was beautifully decorated with colorful ribbons and fresh flowers. The delightful aroma of flowers and prepared food filled the room. An orchestra composed of five musicians took their place in a corner of the hall. A colorfully dressed, dashing old man stood out from the assembled crowd. As the master of ceremonies, he was responsible for encouraging everyone to join in the fun. Everyone eagerly awaited the arrival of the newlyweds.
A little boy named Dawid, who was Róża's younger brother, was the first to hear the horses. He quickly ran into the hut with a loud cry: "They're coming, they're coming!" Immediately, the cottage erupted in activity; most people came out to greet the newlyweds.
The lively music encouraged dancing. The newlyweds spun on the dance floor, surrounded by guests who clapped to the rhythm and laughed enthusiastically. The bride's custom-made gown fit perfectly. The light, silky material gave Róża a lightness and subtly accentuated her beauty. Her hair, the color of golden wheat, was pinned high. Playful, curly strands escaped here and there, bouncing with the rhythm of the dance like golden springs. Dominik embraced Róża more tightly and, gazing into her azure eyes, bowed his head slightly and whispered in her ear: "You are the most beautiful flower I have ever seen. I love you, my Róża, my darling little rose!" Róża was so happy...
Time flew by in the pleasant atmosphere. The wedding was like many others. They ate, drank, danced, and entertained themselves with various entertainments. The joyful mood was constant. Nothing foreshadowed the impending tragedy...
It was well after midnight when thunder boomed in the distance. Soon, a torrential downpour enveloped the cottage in walls of water. Again and again, an electric zigzag furiously cut across the dark blue sky. Powerful thunderclaps shook the windowpanes. People grew alarmed, but even a violent summer storm couldn't interrupt the grand celebration. Rose, exhausted from dancing, sat by the window. She gazed sleepily at the dancers. The furious roar coming from outside was of little concern to her. But a strange unease and some undefined premonition compelled Rose to take another closer look at the gathered crowd. Nervously, she glanced around at the group, and terror was reflected in her blue eyes. A cold shiver ran down her spine – little Dawid was missing! “Where is my brother?” she cried. Suddenly, lightning struck nearby. A terrible roar echoed, as if the powers of hell were calling. Rose ran from the cottage in terror. She couldn't believe what she saw. The once mighty tree was a sad sight. The oak trunk was split in two. Broken branches protruded ominously, as if the claws of death. Rose covered her face with her hands and, with a piercing cry of despair, threw herself to the ground. She saw a macabre sight – her brother Dawid lay among the scattered branches, as motionless as they were, lifeless. Rose's husband, Dominik, ran to her and hugged her. People gathered around the limp Dawid. Everyone felt the terrifying breath of death. It turned out that David had slipped out of the cottage unnoticed and taken shelter from the torrential downpour under an oak tree. He didn't know that sheltering under a tall tree is a very dangerous place during a storm. No one had foreseen this turn of events – a joyful celebration turned into a nightmare in an instant. The band stopped playing, the people fell silent, and the rain stopped. A silence fell, filled with a sepulchral atmosphere. You never know, and even when we're happy, we must reckon with the fact that our situation can change dramatically in a moment. Joy and sadness, weddings and funerals, life and death – these are among the most important elements of our existence. Life is unpredictable, full of surprises.
And suddenly, out of nowhere, the whole picture: the gathered people, the silhouette of the weeping Rose, and the fallen tree – began to blur and seem to recede. Everything began to spin, until finally, I saw black nothingness. I opened my eyes and saw the morning sun. How fortunate it was that it was only a dream...
