Uncle Maga

This story happened to my Uncle Maga when he was working as a security guard. It was in December. That day, he returned home around midnight—his wife and children were already asleep. Without wasting any time, Uncle Maga took a shower and went to bed.

Around three in the morning, he woke up to hear children running in the hallway. Throwing on his robe, Uncle Maga went into the hallway, but no one was there. He went into the children's room and discovered they were asleep.

Thinking he was imagining things, Uncle Maga went to bed. But as soon as he lay down, he heard children's footsteps again. Putting his robe back on, Uncle Maga stood by the closed door and listened. Someone was clearly running behind the door. Uncle Maga turned the doorknob and opened it. The hallway was empty.

A true rationalist, Uncle Maga concluded that the children were playing around—when the door opened, they quickly ran into their room. He closed the door and waited by it, hoping to catch the pranksters red-handed.

A few minutes later, the footsteps resumed. Uncle Maga abruptly opened the door and ran out into the hallway. There was still no one there, and the footsteps immediately stopped. Confused, Uncle Maga stood there, looking around, and out of the corner of his eye noticed the light in the bathroom turn on and the sound of water pouring from the shower. Uncle Maga slowly approached the bathroom. Peering into the room, he saw the silhouette of a woman behind the shower curtain. Uncle Maga gathered all his courage, ran to the bathtub, and pulled back the curtain. There was no one there! Uncle Maga nearly fainted with fear. How could this be?! Where had the woman gone? Only the light and the running water indicated that this had indeed happened.

And then, from the direction of the children's room, a loud child's cry was heard. Uncle Maga's heart sank. He ran into the children's room. Peeking in, he saw the children sleeping peacefully and not crying.

Uncle wandered into the kitchen and collapsed into a chair. He sat there until morning, noticing the occasional light flickering in the bathroom and the sound of running water, and every now and then he heard the baby crying...

The next day, the whole family moved in with my grandmother. The apartment was soon sold.

Uncle managed to find out from neighbors that in the 1980s, a young couple had lived in the apartment—a man and his pregnant girlfriend. But the woman went into premature labor and died right there in the apartment. The baby also didn't survive.

After Uncle Magi, a married couple bought the apartment. Several years have passed, and they haven't had any complaints yet.
