Water
A little girl lived in an apartment building. One day, she told her mother she was going outside to play. A few hours later, her mother went to call her for dinner, but she couldn't find her anywhere. She asked all the children in the yard if they had seen her daughter. They said she hadn't shown up. The girl's parents called the police, and a search began immediately. But it was all in vain—the girl was never found.
Three months later, residents of the building began complaining about the drinking water. Every time they turned on the tap, the water smelled strange. The manager began receiving more and more complaints from residents about the taste and odor of their drinking water. He realized something had to be done and called a plumber to inspect the water tanks on the building's roof. The worker climbed onto the roof and began removing the lids of the tanks to take samples to test the chemical composition of the water. When he reached the last tank and lifted the lid, he smelled a terrible stench. He looked down and saw something floating in the water. It was the decomposing body of a child.
Police confirmed that the body belonged to a little girl who had gone missing three months earlier. It turned out she had been playing alone on the roof and apparently accidentally fell into the cistern while peering under the lid out of curiosity. The girl's body had been there for three months—and the residents of the building had been drinking the water she had been floating in for the same amount of time.
