## **CHAPTER 6 – The Door That Should Never Open**

The earth's vibrations stopped abruptly, as if someone had forbidden it from moving any further. But the silence that fell was even worse than the roar or the boom—it was unnatural, heavy, airless. Jan glanced nervously around, clenching his fists.

"He's watching us," Jakub said, averting his gaze toward the cracked earth.

Zofia felt something moving beneath the surface—gently, as if a huge body were shifting, brushing the city's foundations.

Suddenly, green-gold runes illuminated the air. Scattered throughout the space, they formed successive symbols, but this time they didn't form a map. They… **opened**.

A door appeared. Not an ordinary one—its form didn't fit the world; it was like a crack in reality, shimmering, pulsating, and a dark chill seeping through.

"Don't touch it!" – Jan shouted, seeing Zofia involuntarily step closer.

But Zofia could already feel the door calling her.

**Come in…**

The voice came from outside, yet echoed in her head.

“I need to know,” she whispered.

“No!” Jakub grabbed her hand. “There’s nothing in this you need to know!”

Her gaze was cold and certain.

“That’s why I have to go in.”

And she crossed the threshold.

Darkness swallowed her completely.

## **CHAPTER 7 – Between Worlds**

The world vanished.

Everything she knew vanished like smoke. There was no sky or earth. There was only space… and her.

Runes hung around her like stars in the night sky, pulsing with the rhythm of her heart.

And then something began to form—first a shape, then a shadow, and finally a dark silhouette. "You're back," said a voice that needed no mouth.

Zofia felt a sudden tightening in her chest.

"I've never been here," she replied.

"You were. And you will return many more times. This is your place."

A figure emerged from the darkness. Faceless, but endowed with a presence so powerful that Zofia felt small, as if she were standing before something infinite.

"What do you want from me?" she asked.

"Memory. And then… obedience."

## **CHAPTER 8 – Marking**

At the same moment, Jan and Jakub on the surface tried to open the door, but it glowed with blinding green energy and vanished, leaving them in dead silence.

"We lost her," Jakub said, touching the spot where the passage had been.

Jan glared at him furiously:

"Because of you!"

Jakub froze.

“It wasn’t me who opened the passage… it was her.”

In the distance, on the ground, a new symbol appeared. Sharp. A hint of the scent of burnt leaves and wet earth.

Jan knelt, touched the rune, and felt a stab of pain.

“What does it mean?”

Jakub paled.

“It’s a sign of return.”

“So?”

“She’s no longer alone.”

## **CHAPTER 9 – His World**

Zofia floated in the darkness, though she didn’t feel the weight of her own body. She was like a thought, like a bubble floating in space.

The entity surrounded her with dark tongues of energy that were both cold and hot.

“Your ancestors locked me away,” the voice said. “But only because they feared something they couldn’t control.”

Zofia felt the runes glow brighter against her skin.

“They stopped you.”

“No.” They betrayed me. And you are my way back.

Zofia's pursed lips trembled.

"I will never help you."

Shadow laughed deeply.

"You already helped by opening the door."
