## **Chapter 2: Nightmares and Signs**

A few days after the discovery of the new runes in the center of Skalin, young people began reporting strange dreams and hallucinations. The town, which had already suffered from the rituals, was slowly sinking into a fear that couldn't be explained scientifically.

Ewa, who had survived the first perpetrator's ritual, told Lena about her nightmares. At night, she saw shadows moving on the walls, heard whispers in a language she didn't know, and in the mornings, she discovered strange markings on her skin – subtle lines and shapes that resembled symbols from an alchemist's journals.

"These can't be just dreams..." Lena said, looking at the girl's hand. "Someone or something is trying to mark you, as if you were part of a larger pattern."

During another investigation, Lena visited a hospital where doctors had reported cases of sudden fainting, rapid heartbeats, and disturbing hallucinations in young patients. Each case had one thing in common – all the individuals had contact with places associated with ancient literary club rituals or archaeological ruins in the city.

"This isn't a coincidence," Lena told her assistant, Marek. "Someone is conducting an experiment, but this time it's not just chemistry. It's something psychological, perhaps even supernatural."

At night, Lena searched an abandoned warehouse where, according to the symbols, new signs were to appear. The fog was thick, and the flashlight's beam reflected off the damp walls. Suddenly, she saw lines on the floor, arranged in a runic pattern, glowing faintly in the flashlight's beam.

"This must be a ritual..." Lena whispered, leaning over the signs. "Someone is preparing something bigger than before."

At the same time, rumors of "shadows that walk in dreams" were spreading throughout the city, and parents were keeping an eye on their children like never before. Lena knew she had to act quickly – the new antagonist was not only repeating old rituals but adding new elements that were harder to predict and control.

Her thoughts revolved around a single question: **Who was behind these signs, and what new threat was looming over Skalin?**

The fog over the city was growing thicker, and Lena felt the city holding its breath for what was yet to come.

I can now write **Chapter 3 – "Secrets of the Past"**, introducing old societies, the city's archives, and new clues for Lena.
