## **Chapter 4: Old Club, New Threat**

Lena returned to the abandoned building that once housed a secret literary club. The door creaked as she opened it, and the damp air hit her face. The interior was partially collapsed, and cobwebs seemed to connect every corner into a maze of memories and darkness.

"Someone was here recently..." Lena muttered, noticing fresh footprints in the dust.

She didn't have to search long. On a table in the corner were new notes and symbols that looked like a combination of alchemical notations from previous journals. Some of the symbols pulsed in the dim light, as if someone had used a fluorescent substance to leave a trail for the next discoverer.

"This isn't the work of an ordinary history buff," Lena said to Mark. “Someone is continuing the rituals… and watching them unfold.”

Suddenly, she felt a presence. The faint sound of footsteps drifted from behind the warehouse door. Lena hid in the shadows and watched a middle-aged man dressed in a dark coat. He moved slowly, cautiously, as if he knew every nook and cranny of the club. A vial of a strange, amber liquid glinted in his hand.

“Is that him?” Lena whispered, examining the figure. “Or perhaps… someone even more dangerous?”

The man took out a notebook that looked like a journal and began drawing new symbols on the floor. Every move was carefully considered, every gesture precise, as if the lives of more people depended on it.

“We can’t let this happen again,” Lena whispered to Marek. “We have to find out who he is and what his goals are.”

Leaving the warehouse, Lena felt she was fighting not only for new victims but also for her own understanding of the dark game the entire city was being drawn into. The new antagonist was cunning, cautious, and unpredictable. Every sign, every move seemed to lead Lena and Marek into a trap they couldn't yet see.

As the fog settled over the cobblestone streets of Skalin, Lena knew one thing: the old shadows had returned, and the city was no longer safe. Every step, every glance into the darkness, could be watched by someone or something who knew all her weaknesses.

"This game is just beginning," she murmured, staring into the darkness of the corridor. "And this time, the stakes are higher than ever."

If you want, I can write **Chapter 5 – "Mind Game"** right away, introducing the new antagonist's first riddles and codes and building up the thrilling suspense.
