In the 1980s, crop circles began to appear. Over time, their number steadily increased, and the patterns became increasingly complex. People are wondering if they are the work of pranksters, UFOs, or perhaps a miracle of nature.
On August 10, 1965, just after 4:30 a.m., a truck driver was driving north on the Warminster-Westbury road in Wiltshire. He was just rounding a bend near a place called Colloway Clump when he saw an unidentified flying object ahead. It resembled a purple, glowing ball. To the driver's astonishment, the object adhered to the truck's windshield, causing a severe vibration.
The driver swerved sharply and hit a fence at the side of the road. Then the UFO rose into the air with a prolonged whistling sound.
"It was huge, much bigger than my truck. I'd say it was about 30 to 40 feet in diameter," the driver reported.
Less than a month later, on September 7, 1965, at 7:30 a.m., British Army officer Hill was driving along the same road at about 45 mph when his car's engine suddenly stopped. The car stalled and then began to vibrate violently. Hill jumped out. The air around them pulsated, and a sound like a refrigerator fan amplified could be heard.
"After three minutes, everything returned to normal. I turned the key in the ignition, and the car started without a hitch, as if nothing had happened," Hill said.
The aforementioned occurrences are characteristic signs of UFO encounters. In a field by the road, circular depressions in the grain were found and photographed, which paranormal investigators called UFO nests. However, the question arises: what connection do reports of close encounters of the third kind have with the occurrence of crop circles? Were they actually created by UFOs, or were they the result of natural forces? Or perhaps UFOs are also forces of nature?
