Nice "grandparents"

AK (these were his initials on the Internet) reported that in 1967, when he was five years old, his family rented an old-fashioned house in Waterloo, Canada. It had three bedrooms. One of them—the smallest, with beautiful stained-glass doors leading to a small balcony—was occupied by his sister, who was two years older than him. She didn't stay long.

For two consecutive nights, she woke up the entire house with her screams. Eventually, she swapped bedrooms with her brother.

AK soon discovered why his sister was screaming. Almost every night, he woke up to find either an elderly lady or an equally aged man sitting at the foot of his bed. They looked at him sympathetically, smiling.

The boy missed his grandparents so much, and seeing the smiling old people brought him joy. He was never afraid of them, and they made him feel less lonely.

One day, the house owner took the boy to the attic. There, among various clutter, they saw a framed photograph of an elderly couple. The owner said they were his grandparents, who had lived in the house many years before. It turned out to be the elderly couple visiting the boy...
