Visiting a Medium: What does a medium do, and who do they actually communicate with? Physicist Thomas Campbell explains

From June 30th to July 1st, 2018, Krakow hosted an extraordinary symposium dedicated to virtual reality and the mysteries of consciousness. At the request of listeners and readers, we are publishing another of the most interesting excerpts from the presentations by the symposium's keynote speaker, physicist Tom Campbell, in text format. What is the work of a medium, what information do they transmit, and who do they actually communicate with? These are questions answered by renowned physicist and researcher of consciousness and virtual reality, Tom Campbell. He explains that a medium communicates with a Greater Consciousness System, which contains data describing the deceased person. In conversation with the system, we enter into the data stream and interpret it. According to Campbell, everything is virtual, and the only truth is the consciousness system.Tom Campbell is a physicist and researcher in consciousness and virtual reality. He has collaborated with NASA, among others, and co-authored numerous major projects, such as the Star Wars missile defense system. He has collaborated with Robert Monroe (he is even mentioned in Monroe's books as "TC physicist") and currently works with The Monroe Institute.

Witold Tomkiewicz (symposium organizer): If someone goes to a medium to talk to a deceased person, when the medium transmits some information from that deceased person, does the medium then gain access to the consciousness of the deceased, or is it access to a database, let's say documents from which they can quote some facts?

The question concerns a situation in which someone goes to a medium who talks to a deceased person, perhaps someone who has been dead for some time, perhaps decades. When you talk to a deceased person, who are you actually talking to? The answer is that you are likely talking to a Greater Consciousness System, and you are engaging in a conversation with data in a database that describes that person. By having a conversation with the system, we enter into a data stream and interpret that data. Remember, all realities are virtual. It's not as if we are in a virtual reality of the universe and when we leave it, we enter a "true reality." All realities in which you can experience—these "experiential realities"—are virtual.Experience requires a context to define the experience, and context, in turn, requires rules. A rule-based reality—that is, what creates experience—is a virtual reality. The only thing that is real is the system of consciousness. Consciousness is the foundation. Everything else is virtual. Perhaps we should discuss what is real—that would also be a good question.

So when we connect with a deceased person, the system places data from the deceased person into your data stream or the data stream of a psychic. The system retrieves this data from its database. Everything that person did during their lifetime, every thought, every sensation and feeling, every fact, all their memories, all their connections and relationships—it's all contained in this database. The system knows exactly how to portray that person according to this data. In fact, we—the Free Will Conscious Being Units acting out our bodies—are also part of this system. We are also the data, the history, all the choices we made, all of which led us to who we are today. We are the same.

So when we pull this from the database, it's really no different from a regular conversation with that person—except that the data coming from the database doesn't make free choices. The interaction is similar to a response to a question or stimulus. So it's a probability model of that person, pulled from the database. This is because when you die here, you don't stay to answer questions. You continue to exist, find a new avatar, and return to the game. That's the answer to that question. You're talking to the database, but that database is actually as identical to the person as possible.Witold Tomkiewicz (symposium organizer): Can a psychic, using the information they have access to, harm someone? When someone approaches a psychic, they gain access to information, to a database. Can a psychic cause harm by manipulating the information they were asked to obtain?

Can a medium use such information for nefarious purposes? A medium's job is to have the intention to obtain specific data—and they do. The data comes from a database, and when the medium expresses this intention, the system returns the information. However, the medium must interpret this data. Even if the medium closes their eyes and only speaks, and after coming out of the trance, they don't remember anything—as if someone were speaking through them, even with a changed voice like this [Tom lowers his voice] saying, "I'm from the planet Zoom," and conveying something to you—the medium still has to obtain this data and process it. And if this being from another planet conveys original ideas, they can't exist in the medium's mind. So it doesn't work that way.

A medium obtains this data and provides their best interpretation. Therefore, there are always errors in this interpretation, especially when it comes to concepts and things you don't know about. It's important to remember that mediums don't always convey everything because they have their own filters, fears, beliefs, and understandings—all of which are part of the process that filters this data. However, there are many mediums who are very good at this and are able to set aside these filters. However, they can't set aside all of them because they are still limited to their own experience base. However, they can set aside many fears and beliefs once they learn how to do so. This makes them better mediums.

If a medium isn't sincere and honest, they can make things up. There are people who call themselves mediums but are actually more of entrepreneurs, and they're very good at pretending to do what they do. Most of the time, however, they're just pretending. Most of the time, the people who claim to do it actually have that connection, some better than others. So they might be providing incorrect information, or the system itself might be misleading. Yes, the Greater Consciousness System can sometimes lie! It does this when receiving such incorrect information is in your best interest. Sometimes, instead of telling you what you want, it will tell you what's best for you, to help you learn. Sometimes the best way to help you is to hit you with a stick. And sometimes the system will do just that.

So my advice is to always be skeptical. Be skeptical of anything you might receive from the other side, from a medium, or through your own mind through this connection. You must always make the choices. It's your free will, and you must make the choices. Avoid reaching the point where you become dependent on another source to make the choices for you.

I've met many people who have different methods of obtaining information. One woman has a kind of pendulum. Depending on whether its swing indicates "yes" or "no," people can become addicted to it, asking things like, "Should I go shopping today? Let me check..." or "Should I go to bed or stay up another hour? I'll see...". Very quickly, their lives become controlled by the process of consulting the oracle. They are unable to make a major or even minor decision without checking what the oracle says. If you reach this point, you've surrendered your free will in favor of something else. You refuse to make free choices, instead expecting someone else to make them for you. This is a denial of responsibility, and the Greater Consciousness System will then return some incorrect information to you, leading you to make some very bad decision or problem, and you'll realize, "That didn't work out the way it was supposed to. I did everything that thing told me, and it told me to drive off a cliff..." At that point, you get the message: no, don't do everything the oracle says. If you see a cliff, hit the brakes. This is precisely why the system will return incorrect information. This sometimes happens to people who perform remote viewing. They get fooled because they become good at it with practice. Very quickly, they start to deceive themselves, their ego grows because they feel they're doing so well, and then the system starts feeding them false information, which is often embarrassing. It tells them something that's completely wrong, and when this happens in front of a large audience where most people are listening, that's when they get the wrong information. Then they make fools of themselves, and that's when the system tells them to stop, to hold on. It tells them to stop being so selfish about it.

You never really know where data comes from. Three sources of data: the Greater Consciousness System can send you data, another consciousness can do the same, and you yourself can create data because you are consciousness. The last of these three sources is called imagination. However, you never know which of these sources sent you the data you received. Data doesn't come with a label saying "Greater Consciousness System," "your imagination," etc. It doesn't work that way. Data always looks the same. So you must always remain skeptical because you never know where the data came from or what the purpose of sharing it with you is. Perhaps it's to inform you, perhaps it's to beat you with a stick. Perhaps it's to offer you care? You must accept this and be skeptical. You must retain your free will and make your own decisions about what you do.
