Reality is a matter of convention

Our concept of reality is artificial and culturally conditioned. We believe there is a "real" world—a reflection of our ego, which itself is shaped by the social mechanisms that control the economy and family life. For 21st-century people, the "real" world is a world of work and "free time," money and progress, success (equivalent to fame), and all the baggage of modern culture.

We assume there is an ultimate reality that simply requires observation. This is a scientific illusion dating back to the Renaissance. According to this concept, knowledge boils down to categorizing and describing the world according to the laws of physics and psychosocial dynamics. Only recently have we begun to recognize that time can be cyclical and that knowledge is merely a construct accepted by a given culture. It's not just the brain that "sees," but the entire learning structure, shaped by culture. We see what we are programmed to see.
