# **MINI-ADVENTURE VII - "FOG OVER THE HARBOR"**

*(full, long, novel version)*

Fog enveloped the old harbor, burying every sound and shape in its thick dust. Old, abandoned ships creaked with every shift in the water, and the wooden piers creaked under the weight of their own memories.

Commissioner Jakub stood at the end of the pier, watching the fog, where the shadows of the ships emerged. Argo stood right next to him, sniffing the air and stiffening at every sound—in this part of the harbor, **nothing was ordinary**.

"Someone's here, man," Jakub said, pulling the dog closer. "And they're not ordinary thieves."

The last few weeks at the port had been filled with mysterious disappearances of fishermen and sailors. Anyone who ventured out to the pier at night **never returned**. Anonymous letters suggested that someone or something **supernatural** was behind these events, lurking among the old hulls and moored ships.

Jacob moved along the pier, and Argo guided him toward the largest ship—a former frigate named the Silver Mist. Its deck was empty, and the creaking planks seemed to **whisper a warning**.

Suddenly, the silhouette of a man emerged from the fog—tall, thin, with his face hidden beneath a hood and a knife in his hands. But his movements were unnaturally fluid, as if his body **were not fully human**.

“Argo, watch out!” Jacob shouted.

The dog lunged forward, barking and trying to stop the intruder, but the man's shadow vanished into the mist, leaving behind a **cold, choking breath of darkness**.

Jacob looked down the hull and saw **old runes carved into the wood**, similar to those he had seen in the castle and the theater. The runes pulsed with a pale light, as if drawing energy from the mist and water, creating a protective circle for the intruder.

“Argo, we must destroy them!” he whispered, crouching over the runes.

The dog scratched at the planks, and Jacob aimed his flashlight at them. The runes began to tremble, and the man's shadow emerged from the mist in its full form, pulsing with an inhuman light.

“Now!” Jacob shouted.

Argo lunged directly at the runes, shattering them with his paws, and Jacob directed the light directly at the pulsing shadow. A wave of energy spread through the ship, and the shadow let out an inhuman scream, rippling and dissolving into thin air.

The faces of the lost sailors began to emerge from the fog, their eyes terrified but now free from the darkness.

Jacob took a deep breath and petted Argo.

"Good, boy... another night is behind us," he said.

The fog began to clear, and the old ships creaked, but silence returned to the harbor.
Jacob looked at the dog:
"You know, Argo, in this city, darkness never sleeps. But as long as we're together, we'll always find light."

Argo wagged his tail, ready for another adventure.

And together they set off into the night, knowing that **another mystery, even darker, already awaits in the city's shadows**.

If you want, I can write **MINI-ADVENTURE VIII** right away, in which Jacob and Argo will have to face a **serial killer in the city's labyrinthine underground sewers**, full of traps, darkness, and supernatural phenomena.
