# **MINI-ADVENTURE VIII — "THE LABYRINTH OF THE UNDERGROUND SEWERS"**

*(full, long, novel version)*

The city by the river held a secret—a network of ancient, underground sewers dating back to the Middle Ages. No one visited them at night, for legends said something inhuman lurked in their darkness. But Jakub couldn't leave the disappearances unsolved.

Argo stood at his side, sniffing the air and moving silently across the wet, slippery floor of the sewers. Jakub's flashlight cut through the dense gloom, illuminating the damp walls covered in mold and overgrown with moss. "There's something here, Argo..." Jacob muttered, hugging the dog. "I have a feeling we won't end up there by accident."

Their footsteps echoed, and shadows danced on the walls. Suddenly, Argo stopped, lifting his nose into the air.

"What did you find?" Jacob whispered.

The dog growled softly and headed toward the narrow tunnel. Jacob followed and came upon **old runes carved into the wall**, this time in the form of a maze of signs leading deeper into the sewers.

A figure waited inside—a tall, hooded man, holding a dagger. His body seemed pierced by shadow, as if **the darkness itself was animating him**.

"Argo, be ready!" Jacob whispered.

The dog lunged forward, barking and growling as the man's shadow moved with unnatural speed. Jacob followed them, trying to **cut the runes with his flashlight** to weaken its power.

The runes pulsed faster and faster, creating a **swirling maze of darkness** that tried to engulf them. But Argo knew what to do—he moved the runes with his paws, and Jacob directed the light directly at the swirling symbols.

The shadow let out an inhuman scream, then dissipated into the air, leaving silence behind. The faces of the missing people began to emerge from the maze—frightened, but free.

Jakub petted Argo:

“Good, mate… another maze conquered.”

The underground was empty again.

But Jacob knew that the city’s **dark secrets didn’t end with the sewers**.

“The darkness never sleeps, Argo. But as long as we’re together, we’ll always find a way to the light,” he said, heading for the exit.

The dog wagged its tail, ready for another adventure.
And together they left the labyrinth, knowing their mission still continued.

If you want, I can now write **MINI-ADVENTURE IX**, in which Jacob and Argo face a **mysterious, dark cult operating in an old monastery on a hill**, with murder mysteries and supernatural phenomena.
