Great! We're starting a **NEW MINI-ADVENTURE** with Commissioner Jakub and his dog Argo. This time, it will be a **separate, complete, and expansive story**, with a new mystery, darkness, and suspense, in the style of a novel.--

# **MINI-ADVENTURE II — "SHADOW OVER THE OLD TENEMENT HOUSE"**

*(full, long, novel version)*

Clouds gathered over the city, obscuring the moon. Jakub walked slowly toward the old tenement house on Grodzka Street. The building had been empty for years, but for several weeks, strange noises had been coming from it. Residents of the surrounding tenement houses whispered about lights in the windows, shadows moving on the walls, and strange disappearances of cats.

Argo walked beside him, slowly sniffing the air. The dog was tense—he sensed that something was wrong in the building.

“What do you think, Argo?” Jacob whispered, running his hand along the wall. The wall was cold, damp, and covered in cobwebs. “Looks like someone lives here… or something.”

The door was partially ajar. The hinges creaked with every breath of air. Jacob slowly opened it, and Argo entered first, his nose to the ground, sensing every scent.

The darkness inside was so thick that the flashlight barely penetrated it. Every footstep echoed, and the air was heavy with must and dust. Suddenly, Argo stopped, fluffed up his fur, and let out a low, menacing growl.

“What’s wrong, man?” Jacob whispered, approaching the dog.

From deep within the tenement came the sound of footsteps, slow, rhythmic, like someone walking across the wooden floor. But there was no one there.

Argo barked suddenly, and a shadow moved across the wall. Jakub held his breath. The flashlight illuminated something he couldn't immediately identify: an old portrait hanging on the wall, its eyes seemingly following his every move.

"It's impossible..." Jakub muttered. "The eyes of a portrait..."

A shadow suddenly emerged from the portrait. It wasn't human, but it moved with a grace that resembled a human. It stood before Jakub and Argo, its shape seemingly shifting, as if the flashlight's beam couldn't fully reveal it.

"Who are you?" Jakub asked, raising his pistol.
The shadow responded with **silence**, but the air was chilly and smelled of old, damp walls.

At that moment, Argo lunged forward, barking and urging the shadows to flee. But the shadow didn't flee.

On the contrary—it approached. Each step seemed to absorb the flashlight's beam, creating a circle of darkness around it.

Jakub quickly realized they couldn't fight with force. They had to find the **source of this shadow**. His gaze fell to the floor. Between the boards were **old runes**, similar to those he had once seen in the factory basement. Their shape suggested a ritual meant to attract something from another dimension.

“Argo, we have to stop the ritual,” Jacob said.
The dog looked at him and immediately moved towards the runes, barking and scratching at them with his paw.

The shadow reacted immediately—it rippled, pulsating, and its eyes shot short flashes of red.
Jakub raised his hand, holding the flashlight towards the runes. The light began to oscillate, and the runes glowed with a blue glow. The shadow hissed, trying to pull away, but the light was stronger.

Finally, the runes began to fade, the shadow rippled and vanished, leaving only silence. Argo gave a short, triumphant bark and ran to Jacob.

“Okay, man… we did it,” Jacob said, petting the dog’s head.

The building was quiet again.
But Jacob knew one thing: the shadow could return, and the city's old secrets would not cease to wait.

Argo looked at him with a loyal, confident gaze.

"Ready for another night?" Jacob murmured, smiling in the twilight.

The dog wagged his tail.

And they headed for the exit, leaving silence behind them… but not peace.

If you want, I can start writing **another mini-adventure III** right away, even darker, with a new crime mystery where Jacob and Argo will have to solve a case of serial disappearances in a forest full of mysterious creatures.
