Hun Dun (Chaos) was the beginning. This primordial being and the two opposing yet complementary forces of the universe are personified by three emperors. Hu, Emperor of the South Sea, met with Shu, Emperor of the North Sea, in the land of Hun Dun, Emperor of the Middle Kingdom. Hun Dun showed hospitality to Hu and Shu, so the two conferred on how to show their gratitude. They discovered that everyone except Hun Dun had seven holes in their bodies. Using chisels and drills, they drilled one hole for him each day. After seven days, the emperors completed their work, only to discover they had killed Hun Dun. With Chaos's death, an orderly universe arose, and life began to form on the planets
