## **Summary of the novel "Silence in the Cliff House"**

In a small seaside town, cut off from civilization after the season, stands the old, monumental Cliff House – a place shrouded in infamy and swarming with dark legends. After the mysterious death of its previous owners, the house falls into the hands of a young couple, Lena and Adam, who seek peace and a fresh start far from the hustle and bustle of the city. From the very first moments of their stay, the atmosphere in the house is heavy and unsettling – prolonged creaking, a cold interior, strange noises, and the feeling that the house is watching their every move.

On the very first night, Lena experiences unsettling events: she hears whispers, sees shadows in the windows, and spots strange footprints leading into the house. Adam tries to explain everything rationally, but over time, they both begin to realize that what is happening falls outside the bounds of the normal world.

They discover an old journal belonging to the previous owner, Anna Kurecka, which reveals fragments of her life filled with loneliness, anxiety, and mysterious events in the house. Anna's notes are filled with warnings: "Something walks the hallway at night," "Don't look in the mirror"—and descriptions of signs and symbols that appeared on their own, regardless of her attempts to destroy them. Gradually, Lena and Adam discover that the house is almost sentient—capable of influencing reality, manipulating time and space, revealing the past, and luring its inhabitants into a trap of fear.

The couple begins to explore the town, trying to uncover the history of the house and the fate of Anna Kurecka. They encounter residents who either discourage them from delving into the past or share disturbing fragments of legend. With each conversation, the tension grows, and the house's mystery becomes increasingly personal—it turns out that the cliff and the house have the power of attraction, and the people who lived there were confronted with their own fears and secrets.

As more secrets are uncovered, Lena and Adam's relationship grows stronger, but tensions, conflicts, and moments of doubt abound. Each new sign, rustle, or shadow blurs the line between reality and supernatural horror. The house becomes almost an antagonist – its walls "remember" the past, and the presence of ghosts and unexplained phenomena becomes increasingly palpable.

The novel's climax comes when Lena and Adam discover a hidden part of the house – secret passages, hidden rooms, and symbolic patterns that lead to the truth about the fate of its previous inhabitants. It turns out that Anna Kurecka's disappearances, whispers, and visions were not accidental – the house selects its "tenants," testing their courage, the strength of their bond, and the ability to face their fears. In a dramatic finale, the couple comes face to face with the darkness that tries to consume them, while simultaneously gaining full awareness of the house's workings and the power of its mysterious symbols.

The epilogue brings solace. Lena and Adam, after experiencing intense events, find peace and a sense of security in a house that was previously terrifying. The silence of Cliff House becomes a symbol of a new beginning – their experience and survival there make the couple stronger and more united than ever before. The dark mystery of the house is solved, and the place that was terrifying for years becomes a witness to their renewed life and love.
