# **Chapter 2 of the new series—Secrets of the Laboratory's Underground**

The laboratory's underground was cold and damp, and the air was filled with the metallic smell of chemicals and mustiness. Jacob, Argo, and the ally descended the stairs, whose wood creaked with every step, and the shadows in the corners seemed to shift as if watching every movement.

"Be vigilant," the ally whispered. "These tunnels may hold more than just documents."

Argo sniffed the air slowly, his nose to the ground, trying to pick up every scent. His instincts told him they weren't alone.

Deep within the underground, they found a laboratory full of old, dusty crates and rusty tools. On the tables lay notes in an unknown code, test tubes containing strange substances, and photographs of people who had disappeared in various parts of the city.

"It looks like someone was experimenting here with… something more than chemistry," Jakub muttered, leaning over his notes. "It must be part of a larger plan."

Suddenly, footsteps echoed from the narrow tunnel. A hooded figure emerged from the shadows, holding a metal pipe, ready to attack. Argo reacted instantly, throwing himself at the intruder and knocking him to the ground.

Jakub and his ally charged toward the tunnel. The fight was violent and chaotic: metal clashed against metal, echoes bounced off the stone walls, and the air was filled with adrenaline and tension. After a few minutes, the intruder was subdued.

"Looks like we're not the only ones who know about this lab," the ally said, searching the intruder. “Someone is still trying to keep these secrets hidden.”

Argo found a hidden hatch in the floor, leading to an even deeper part of the underground. They descended cautiously, their flashlights illuminating steel pipes, scattered documents, and strange symbols carved into the stone.

At the end of the tunnel, they discovered a chamber filled with completely destroyed laboratory equipment, old city maps, and notes indicating further experiment locations. All of this led to new locations in the city they hadn’t yet discovered: abandoned warehouses, old factories, and hidden sewers.

“This is just the beginning,” Jacob said, looking at Argo and his ally. “Every step, every clue, leads us deeper into the city’s secrets.”

Argo rested his head on Jacob’s leg. The dog sensed that something dangerous was lurking underground, something that could change everything they’d discovered so far.

“We have to move on,” the ally said. “This laboratory is only the first piece of the puzzle.”

The fog of the night city seeped into the underground through cracks in the walls. The heroes knew one thing: another adventure was just beginning, and the lab's riddles could lead them to places no one else would dare visit.
