Red lights of Seram
One evening in June 1986, while working for the Voluntary Service Organization (VSO) on the island of Seram (Ceram) in eastern Indonesia, tropical agriculture specialist Tyson Hughes noticed some strange, unfamiliar fish in the river. They looked like mudskippers, similar in size and shape. However, unlike all known mudskippers, these fish emitted a bright, pulsating red light. Try as he might, Hughes was unable to catch the strange fish.
