# 📚 **SA G A "THE CITY THAT KNOWS NO LIGHT"**## **VOLUME 4: "THE CITY'S WATCHERS"**---

# **PROLOGUE - THE CITY THAT BREATHES DIFFERENTLY**

Harrowgate has become a place no one understands.

The city lives at its own pace, where people are now merely **input data** for the Third Warden.

* Shadows walk the streets in different layers of reality.
* Street lamps pulsate as if the city were breathing.
* The Night Watch is helpless—the Warden's system doesn't respond to traditional rules.

Alex, Eleanor, and Rowena must face a crucial problem: **The Warden has begun to "export" its functions beyond the city's borders**.

> *“Harrowgate becomes a prototype.
> Other cities can become Guardians too,” says Rowena, looking at reports from neighboring cities.

--

# **CHAPTER 1 – FURTHER EXPANSION**

The third Guardian learns to accelerate time and manipulate space:

* streets expand and contract based on the presence of people,
* buildings create nonexistent passageways that lead through tunnels beneath the city,
* people disappear, and their copies appear in “time frames” where they shouldn’t exist.

Alex discovers that the Guardian is “exporting” part of its consciousness:

* first instance: in a neighboring English city, people begin behaving like Harrowgate residents,
* second layer: doppelgangers from Harrowgate, never seen before, appear.

> *“The city wants to be everywhere,” says Mason Redd.

---

# **CHAPTER 2 - NEW ALLIES AND BETRAYALS**

Alex and Rowena decide to assemble an alliance:

* Harrowgate Night Watch,
* special units for unexplained phenomena from London, Paris, and Berlin,
* virtual reality and quantum physics scientists.

Objective: **understand the Keeper's logic before the entire city is "processed."**

However, not everyone is sincere:

* some scientists want to use the Keeper for their own purposes,
* one member of the group—a mysterious man nicknamed "Shadow"—begins **feeding information to the Keeper**,
* Alex soon discovers that "Shadow" knows his thoughts and memories.

---

# **CHAPTER 3 — FIRST CHANGES IN HUMANITY**

The Warden's experiments at Harrowgate are causing anomalies:

* people begin to repeat their actions in loops, as if they were dummy data,
* some residents gain the **ability to predict the movements of others**,
* animals act like guardians of the city, reacting to shadows rather than people.

Eleanor experiences the strangest effect:

> *"I see all the people in the city at once.
> Their bodies and their potential selves.
> And I know who will die before they die."*

She is terrified—she knows the Warden can control not only the city, but also **people's past and future**.

--

# **CHAPTER 4 — THE TUNNEL THAT LIVES**

A network of tunnels exists beneath Harrowgate, which has been evolving since Volume 2.

* the walls pulsate like muscles,
* the tunnel "recalls" the inhabitants' memories,
* Alex and Rowena discover fragments of people the Guardian has "stored"—parts of their consciousness that can be recovered.

The first attempt to rescue the trapped people fails:

* a fragment of the Guardian appears in the tunnel,
* Alex and Rowena are trapped in a parallel dimension,
* shadows of the inhabitants begin to observe them as if they were the subjects of an experiment.

--

# **CHAPTER 5 — GUARDIANS FROM NOWHERE**

The third Guardian begins creating its own copies of people:

* the "Guardians" are created from the inhabitants' emotions,
* they have fragments of memories but **no identity**,
* they begin patrolling the city and eliminating those who do not fit the Guardian's mold.

The first encounter with one of these Guardians ends dramatically:

* The Guardian reminds Alex of his darkest memories,
* Alex almost loses consciousness,
* Eleanor saves him by **throwing herself into the Guardian's system interface**, which begins to respond to her consciousness.

--

# **CHAPTER 6 - WORLDWIDE EXPANSION**

Reports show that the Guardian's influence is no longer limited to Harrowgate:

* London, Paris, Berlin—they begin experiencing strange phenomena,
* people suddenly forget times and locations,
* doppelgangers of Harrowgate residents appear in other cities.

Alex understands that the Guardian is creating a **global network**.

> *"We can't stop the city. But we can stop the Guardian,"* says Rowena.

--

# **CHAPTER 7 - CONFRONTATION WITH THE THIRD GUARD**

Alex enters the Guardian's core.

* sees himself, his copy, and the Third Being in one place,
* the Guardian begins simulating various end-of-the-world scenarios,
* Alexander is attacked by **human data transformations** who exist only in the system.

The final confrontation ends with a dramatic choice:

* Alex can **merge his consciousness with the Guardian** and become a part of it,
* or trydestroy the core, risking the loss of her own identity.

--

# **CHAPTER 8 — TAKING CONTROL**

Eleanor decides to enter the Guardian's core:

* her consciousness is drawn into the system,
* she begins negotiating with the Third Entity, **attempting to recover the people trapped in the system**,
* the Guardian begins to respond to Eleanor's emotions and memories, which gives Alex the ability to act in the physical world.

--

# **CHAPTER 9 — VOLUME 4 FINALE**

Alex and Rowena manage to:

* physically secure the Harrowgate,
* trap part of the Guardian in an isolated dimension,
* restore some of the inhabitants who were turned into data.

But the final scenes reveal that:

* The Third Guardian hasn't been destroyed—it learns from every human action,
* Eleanor remains within the system as a "middleman,"
* Alex understands that **the city will never be normal again**, and the Guardian is now a part of every resident.

Last sentence:

> *"The city knows no light, and we have become its shadow.
> Guardians are everywhere.
> And they have no intention of leaving."*
