She went with a friend to the annual collective meeting with the Lord...They met two boys there... One of them caught her eye immediately... his name was Bartosz... and the other... Tomasz. After leaving, the four of them started meeting... They went to their favorite pub... a favorite, as it later turned out, for all four of them... they sat there for hours... several times a week... They met just to be together... that's how something sparked between her and Bartosz... Unfortunately, they both knew that she was going to London for the entire summer... yet she didn't resist the feeling that was growing inside her... and she hoped that he wouldn't either... her hope came true... They were together at least until she left... there were two weeks left... they were together... they spent every moment together... they wanted to enjoy each other for a while... The day before she left... she wasn't sure if he would wait... she had to ask him about it... but she was afraid... she cared about him... but she was afraid that he wouldn't want to wait two months for her... She had to overcome her fear... of that In the evening, she overcame herself and asked... she waited impatiently... but luckily, he calmed her down... he promised he would wait for her... and told her not to worry about it... She was happy... She had wonderful friends... a guy who cared about her... She didn't want to leave... but she had to go to work... she needed money...
Her sister and brother-in-law were in London... and she was going there with her brother-in-law's sister... she didn't want to... she didn't like Agnieszka (that was her brother-in-law's sister's name)... Bartek (her brother-in-law) was nice that he was there, but if he wasn't, she wouldn't cry... she was only going there for her sister... because she knew that Magda (her sister) missed home... someone close...
It was Saturday... the day of departure... she had said goodbye to Bartosz and her friends the evening before... Her mother woke her up at 9 a.m. even though they were supposed to come pick them up... at 1 p.m.... she went to the bathroom... and heard the bell ring... it turned out that her friends and boyfriend couldn't stand it... they couldn't resist coming on the day she was leaving... They were sitting in her room... drawing a map on her leg... so she could find her way back... so she wouldn't get lost... They were joking, laughing, but what they really wanted to do was cry... she and her friend... hugged each other... and started crying... repeating alternately "I don't want to go"... "I don't want you to go" The boys didn't know what to do... and just hugged them... they sat glued together... and didn't want to leave each other... It was almost 1 p.m.... they helped her carry the luggage... Standing in front of the building, they hugged each other... and cried harder and harder... they didn't pay attention to her Neighbors at their windows with strange expressions... She got into the car... and with tears in her eyes, she watched them stand in the street, crying and waving white handkerchiefs, trying to bring a smile to her face... it was obvious she wouldn't smile. She only smiled when she had a reason to...
She went. She didn't say a word the entire way to the airport in Berlin. Agnieszka's parents kept saying, "Stop being sad, it's only two months, two months in beautiful London..." She had had enough... they couldn't understand that friends were the most important thing in her life. Because, after all, she would make a lot of money. She didn't want them... she hated money... but she knew her mother needed them. She had a group of materialists around her... not counting her mother, of course... and she felt particularly bad there.
They landed in London... As soon as she saw her sister... she immediately threw her arms around her... she knew she would be the only person she could talk to... simply... as always. As they drove home... to the apartment where she would spend the next two months... she couldn't quite call it home... she watched the people going to parties... they looked strange... strange to her... because Agnieszka was fascinated by what he was doing... She kept hearing, "Look at this car... I'll buy one! It's great here! I want to live here!" She, on the other hand, admired the architecture, which had a vaguely medieval feel. She wasn't happy to be here... she didn't want to stay... in fact, she was counting the days until she returned. She hoped that Sunday's Eucharist would lift her spirits a bit... Unfortunately, that wasn't what she'd hoped for either. Through no one's fault, they'd missed almost the entire Mass... because when they entered the church, Communion was in progress... she was angry. She felt like crying... tears welled up in her eyes. That evening, she couldn't take it anymore... she burst into tears. She sobbed into her pillow so no one would see. She didn't want to show her sister that she wasn't happy about coming to London... she knew her sister would be upset. She disguised herself, but her sister knew her too well and knew this would be the worst vacation of her life.
For two weeks, she searched for a job with Agnieszka... she didn't like spending all day with her... every day... from restaurant... to restaurant... from hotel to hotel...
She felt helpless... Agnieszka found a job in a hotel... and she needed some paperwork to work at McDonald's... she didn't want to work there, but she had no choice... They went to an internet cafe to print the paperwork... and somehow, the owner of the cafe offered her a job... she couldn't believe it... she just had to sit in front of the computer for ten hours. This improved her mood a bit...
The next day she started work... Hosse (that was her new boss's name) showed her everything... she spent entire days in a cafe... she had Sundays off... So, while browsing the internet, out of boredom, she entered a website... where there was no sex... no swearing... no vulgarity... a website dedicated to those who love the Lord... she found a section called "let's get to know each other"... people left their messages there... that they needed help... that they wanted to meet someone who would understand them... that they wanted to share their experiences with the Lord. There, one ad caught her eye... "I met a wonderful friend. What kind of person is he? I'm a little lost... and I need a soul who will understand me..." she wrote to him... he replied... and that's how it all began... It turned out they were identical... that he was her male mirror image... They wrote to each other several times a day... he loved the Lord just like her... he was all like her... they differed in literally small things... a different backpack... they liked rice in a different form... these were the only differences they managed to find... when they talked in some chat...
They talked often and for a long time... they both sat for hours in front of computers... and smiled at the monitors... They felt they had one soul in Christ in two bodies... She really wanted to thank the Lord with him... just when she wanted to write to him... he beat her to it... He wanted to come to London... but there was one... one single... but a huge obstacle... money... she hated it so much, and it constantly stood in her way of happiness. He decided he would come to her when she returned... to bring flowers to the Lord... it was the only way they could repay Him... for creating them just like that and for making them get to know each other. They would have a few days... before she started school... and he would go on a retreat... She had never longed for the holidays to end so much... He was drawing... and she wanted to see his work. He sent them to her. She could see them on the monitor... but she was a bit tired of... constantly staring at the monitor... besides, she knew the drawings would reflect his soul... she printed them out. One of the drawings... he told her... that's what he looked like... and that's how she imagined him. When she told him... it turned out she was right... it was him... he proved it by sending her a picture of himself... she couldn't believe it... it was like a beautiful dream. She was falling for him more and more... she longed to meet him more and more... she had never waited so long for anything... she thought more and more about Bartosz... about her friends... she knew that when she returned home... her friends would always be there... because they were from the same city... and they could meet at any time. And even when she returned to Poland, he wouldn't be with her... because he was from another city.
She had never longed for the holidays to end so much...
They talked every day... every day... they both sat in front of computers for hours... She was suffocating... she didn't want to be in a city full of people... machines... noisy... she felt like she was locked in a prison... for the mistakes she'd made the previous summer... She longed for peace, quiet... and above all, someone close by her side... she longed for at least one friend she could cuddle with... when she was feeling down. He knew this... because they were getting to know each other better and better each day... He comforted her... but not with some senseless "don't worry, just a little longer"... He told her how important she was to him... he said it when she needed it most... she didn't ask him to... he simply knew... he knew... everything... even when she tried to hide her bad mood. She was afraid to tell him how important he was to her... afraid that what was in her heart was so big... afraid that if she said it, it would become so small. She grew increasingly attached to him... she couldn't wait for the holidays to end because she knew they would meet then... It wasn't about not wanting to be in London anymore. She wanted to see him... She really wanted to! Never had she longed for the holidays to end so much...
