The Green Man is also known in Islamic circles, but dates back to pre-Muslim times. He is called Al-Khadir. According to legend, he was supposed to show wandering nomads the way to watering holes. Al-Khadir is said to have journeyed through the Kingdom of Darkness, later coming across an extraordinary white rock with a spring gushing from its summit. Al-Khadir was the first to successfully climb it. When he drank a sip of water from the miraculous spring, his clothes turned green, and he became immortal.

The figure of the Green Man has been revered for centuries, particularly during spring festivals. Celtic customs are still practiced in many places in England. For example, in Rochester, a kind of Celtic festival called Beltane is celebrated on May 1st, where a dancer adorned in green leaves performs at the festival. The name of this figure—Green Man—also stems from the Old English term "greemans ," which signifies prosperity.
