THE KIDNAPPER CHAPTER 1

It was a warm summer; it hadn't rained for a week, and it was 29 degrees Celsius in the shade. Martin Willis, a medium-height, brown-haired man with brown eyes and a light beard, was just grabbing some cold milk from the fridge, pouring himself half a glass, and drinking it. Immediately afterward, he dialed his fiancée's number, but only his secretary answered, so he hung up. He wondered what to do, turned on the TV, and started watching a movie. Suddenly, the phone rang, and he quickly jumped up from the couch, hoping it was Ashley (his fiancée). However, it was a work call, an emergency. He quickly dressed in a suit and headed to the garage to get his car. Then he sat in traffic for half an hour. He finally arrived – the KSV office. It was responsible for finding new film directors, and Martin was the owner and director of the office.
"What happened?" he asked his deputy, Alex Dogliotto. He was a medium-height man with auburn hair and green eyes.
"Some 'film director' is making a fuss about why we rejected her script.
" "And what did you tell her?
" "That we have plenty of such projects and we don't need her project right now.
" "And then, I assume, she started making a fuss with you, right?
" "Yes, and that's why I called you to help me sort this out.
" "Sure, bring her to me, I'll talk to her.
" "Okay. If you want.
" "Is it that bad?
" "It's better not to ask. She's a ticking time bomb, not a woman."
Ten minutes later, Alex arrived with a woman. She was an average woman with long black hair and brown eyes. You could see the "flames of rage" in her eyes. "
Please sit down," Martin pointed to the chair opposite him. The woman sat down without a word. "I heard you were making a fuss about us not accepting your project, is that true?
" "I wasn't making a fuss, I was arguing.
" "Okay, but you were arguing about your project, right?"
"Yes, because I think it's very good, and I'm not the only one, and you didn't accept it, and I'm very unhappy about that.
" "Too bad, Mrs...
" "...Wonter.
" "But we can't accept every project we get..."
"And did you even read it?" the man hesitated for a moment, then replied:
"Actually, no, but that doesn't change the fact that we'll accept your project.
" "So you don't know if it was good or not. So if you want to reject my script, please read it first." Mrs. Wonter stood up and left the office, slamming the door.
"Hmm, I'll have to read her script.
" "Are you crazy! Just because some lunatic showed up because we refused to work with her, you're going to read this script?!
"Yes, I will, otherwise if I refuse her again and she asks me if I've read it, I'll say yes, and then what?
" "Well," Alex shrugged, "you'll lie to her.
" "Exactly. But that's not the end, because if she asks me about any of this later," Martin waved the script, "I won't be able to answer her."
"You'll say you don't remember everything."
"Exactly, she'll start asking me about the rest, and I won't know a single answer, and then she'll go to the newspaper and tell about it, and then we're finished.
" "Do as you like," Alex shrugged and left.
That evening, Martin returned home, sat down in his armchair, and started reading the script for "One Fine Morning..." and took her on his motorcycle, and then they lived happily ever after." He put the script aside, looked at his watch; it was ten past two in the morning. He changed into his pajamas and went to bed. The next morning, he went to work as usual.
He was stuck in traffic again for half an hour; he was climbing the stairs, dreaming of coffee with cream, and had just climbed the stairs when he suddenly saw a nightmare. The woman from the brawl was already sitting there, waiting for him; it was a real nightmare.
"Good morning," he said to the woman and smiled.
"Good morning," she replied, but she didn't return the smile. "Have you read my script?"
"Yes, please follow me." He walked to his office and, as before, showed her the seat opposite.
"So?
" "We won't accept your project anyway.
" "Why?
" "Because I didn't like it.
" "Okay, I have three more scripts here for you." The woman reached into her purse, then handed them to the director.
"Come back in three days.
" "Okay, goodbye," she said, standing up and leaving.
When Martin got home that evening, he dialed Ashley's number, and this time she answered.
"Hi, honey, I wanted to ask if you could come over today. There's a surprise waiting for you.
" "Okay, I still need to have a serious talk with you. I'll be there in an hour."
"Okay." Martin hung up and quickly began cleaning the apartment. Everything was ready when the doorbell suddenly rang. He opened it, and Ashley walked in. He kissed her in greeting.
"Hello, honey, I'm glad you came," he smiled at her.
"I see you've cleaned the apartment." She leaned over slightly to see the entire room, then smiled at Martin.
Then he poured wine into their glasses, they sat down, and slowly sipped it while chatting. Everything was fine until Mr. Willis started talking about the wedding.
"...and then we'll have two or three children playing in our huge garden..."
"You know what, I have to tell you something important."
"What?
" "Something very important...
" "Did something happen?
