Eternal Things

If we imagine the beauty of creation—closing our eyes for a moment to feel the rain, hear the sound of the sea, and smell the fragrance of flowers; picturing children, animals, the wind, the water, the cold, and the heat—we realize that everything, absolutely everything, was made by a loving God. A God who, in His generosity, created a home for us to care for. A God who took the trouble to let us see in color, to let us taste a variety of flavors, to plant feelings in our hearts, and to enable us to think. A God who could have created us as machines designed to serve Him, but instead gave us free will. If we imagine God's love for a moment—looking up at the night sky to see the mysterious beauty of the moon and the vastness of the blue expanse filled with stars—we realize just how much we have to be thankful for. Thankful for the privilege of life. Thankful for all this love so generously given. Thankful, and seizing every day to praise Him in both word and deed. Thankful, and showing that we love Him and cherish everything we have been granted. Caring for one another and caring for the earth as well. Let us give thanks and strive each day to be better people.
