A sighting similar to those described in Stephen Wagner's article was made in 1959 by a family living in Beech Fork, Wayne County, West Virginia, USA. This is actually a rural town, located far from any major cities. In the middle of the night, the rather loud sounds of a small plane were heard, but nothing was observed visually. Eventually, a loud crash was heard. A search for the crashed plane the next day was unsuccessful – nothing was found. Unfortunately, the exact date of this sighting is unknown.
Here's one of the latest reports, this time published by Ghost Theory. The incident occurred on September 20, 2011, at approximately 8:30 p.m. in Reading, Berkshire, UK. During the night, some residents of this small town heard a strange noise coming from the sky. The sound was heard throughout Reading and surrounding areas. There were also reports of a low-flying passenger plane, with other witnesses claiming it was a larger aircraft. The plane appeared to be experiencing problems and was flying unusually low, and a strange smell of burning oil was also noticeable. Hundreds of people from Reading, Tilehurst, Calcot, and the western Berkshire area reported the sightings. It was suspected that the plane had crashed near Sulham Woods. However, police and aviation authorities say there have been no reports of a missing or crashed plane.
