Demon?

The hypothesis of the Green Man's demonic nature should be ruled out, as it is a symbol adopted from ancient religions by Islam and Christianity. After all, the transition from paganism to Christianity was long and gradual, incorporating many ancient holidays and symbols. Christmas was celebrated when pagans observed the shortest day of the year, while St. John's Day was celebrated during the longest day, and St. Bridget's Day is the date of the pagan holiday of Imbolc.

Symbols such as the Moon, the Sun, the tree of life and the mandrola (fish bladder) were also introduced into Christianity, as well as many other well-known and commonly used symbols from pre-Christian times.

The Green Man also became a symbol of the forces of Nature. This symbolism is still used today, for example in food advertisements.
