Reiki

Reiki is an ancient healing practice with roots in lost cultures in the Himalayas. The word combines two Japanese terms: REI, meaning Divine Wisdom, and KI, which refers to life energy. This system involves transmitting energy through the laying on of hands and meditation, and aims to improve health and quality of life. Available to everyone regardless of beliefs, Reiki is based on a universal energy that adapts to individual needs. With initiation, practitioners open themselves to this healing power, allowing them to share it with others.

The word Reiki is composed of two words: REI and KI. When translating from Japanese into any Western language, it's important to remember that accurate translation is very difficult. Eastern languages, including Japanese, have many levels of meaning. Depending on the context, words can have multiple meanings. Since in colloquial Japanese, REI means Spirit and KI means mist, which Spirit of the Mist are we talking about? But if we consider the spiritual, esoteric context of the word, the matter is somewhat different. REI can be defined as HIGHER INTELLIGENCE, DIVINE LAW, DHARMA—that which guides the creation and functioning of the Universe.

REI is the eternal Wisdom that permeates everything, it is PRA - ENERGY, that which was before creation and is now beyond and within all creation. It is something that can be a Source of help and provide direction in individual development. Because REI permeates the entire Universe and also transcends it, it is OMNISCIENT.

The question arises: is this about God? If we want to use such a name, then yes. But we must remember that every culture has its own name, and indeed, every person interprets the HIGHER POWER in their own way. Rei defies the conceptual clichés to which we are accustomed by the culture in which we live; he cannot be confined within the narrow framework of any paradigm.

Many people who are not initiated into Reiki, or have not even experienced the effects of this special ray of Divine Life Energy, often speculate about what it is. This will always remain speculation, because REI is known through EXPERIENCE, not speculation. KI is the energy that animates all living things. KI flows in all living things—plants, animals, and people. When our personal KI level is high, we feel strong, healthy, and ready for action. When KI is low, we feel depressed, weak, and ill. We obtain KI from the air, food, sunlight, and also through energy exchange with the environment. We can gain the most KI through deep, relaxing sleep and some type of energizing meditation. KI is known by many names: KI or CHI in Chinese medicine; PRANA in Indian Yoga; OD or VRIL in Western Occultism; BIOPLASMA, ORGONAL ENERGY or BIOENERGY in Psychotronics.Knowledge of the invisible energy flowing through all living beings and its direct connection to health is a legacy of many cultures. Furthermore, so-called modern Western science is beginning to acknowledge the reality of life energy, albeit with some resistance, and Western medicine is increasingly recognizing the truth of how life energy is connected to the immune system. Reiki is a technique that allows everyone to tap into the infinite resources of life energy to improve the quality of life and health of themselves and others.

The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words: REI, which can be translated as Divine Wisdom or Higher Intelligence, and KI, which means Life Energy. Thus, REI-KI loosely translates to:
