Mirka brought a tray with four cups of tea into the room, placed it on the table, and took one cup.
"Here are the teas. Wait, I'll bring some more cake. "
A moment later, she returned carrying a plate with a sliced blueberry cake.
"Ooh! Cake!" Aga said, licking her lips.
The girls were sitting in Mirka's room, eating cake and drinking tea. They were talking, as usual, about everything and nothing. Only Mirka was sitting there, looking sad. Gosia was the first to notice. "
Hey, Mirka, what happened?" she asked. "
She probably had a fight with Michał," Agnieszka said.
"Nothing happened," the girl denied. "Eat the cake."
"We can see something's wrong! You can tell us," Gosia said, concerned.
"I'm going to the hospital the day after tomorrow," Mirka whispered, ducking her head so the girls wouldn't notice the tears welling up in their eyes.
"What?!" all three shouted. "Why?"
"I'm anemic. My doctor is afraid it might turn into something worse," the girl explained. "
So what?" Ola asked, her voice breaking.
"I don't know exactly. But I don't want to go to that damn hospital!" Mirka said, bursting into tears.
After a moment, they were all crying.
When they calmed down, they went to the room with the TV to watch their favorite show. At 7:00 PM, the intercom rang. Mirka went to answer the door. It was Michał.
"Why so early?" the girl asked, surprised. "You're usually here at 8:00 PM.
" "Come on, stop talking, just come downstairs. I have a surprise for you," the boy said mysteriously.
"But... the girls are at my place. Maybe you'd better go upstairs.
" "Well, then they'll be left alone, big deal. Go downstairs. Otherwise, there's no surprise."
Mirka hung up the intercom and entered the room. She sat down uncertainly and looked at her friends. They were all staring at her.
"Go ahead, go ahead. The boy will freeze because of you," said Agnieszka.
Mirka jumped to her feet, put on her shoes without even tying them, threw her jacket over her shoulders, and ran out of the apartment. She ran down the stairs, pushed open the front door, which, as usual, was resisting, and went outside. Michał paced back and forth, warming his hands. As usual, he wasn't wearing gloves.
"Finally! I thought I wouldn't make it.
" "You should have gone upstairs. And now you're standing here freezing," said the girl.
Michał approached Mirka and zipped up her jacket.
"If you catch a cold, you won't be able to go to the concert with me," he said, pulling tickets to the SDM concert from his pocket.
Mirka's face grew sad at the sight, turned away, and began walking in the opposite direction from the boy.
"What? You don't want to go?" Michał asked. "If you don't want to, I can sell the tickets to Aśka. "
"No, that's not the point.
" "Maybe... maybe you don't want to go with me?" the boy asked.
"No! I mean, yes! I mean, I want to go with you, but... I can't," Mirka said, feeling tears welling up behind her eyes.
"Why?" Michał demanded.
"I have to go back." The girls are sitting there alone."
And she left. She returned home.
"So, how's Michał doing?" Aga asked.
"What? Nothing, nothing..." the distracted girl replied.
She went into the kitchen and opened the fridge. She took out a yogurt and went to the room where her friends were sitting. She sat down on the floor and began eating.
"You'd like something real, not yogurt!" Olka said.
