Mother Earth – In Native American mythology, Mother Earth, along with her counterpart and consort, Father Sky, is usually the offspring of the supreme deity, the "Great Spirit." After the appearance of Mother Earth and Father Sky, the supreme deity withdrew from the world, entrusting them with the continuation of the work of creation. According to the beliefs of some peoples inhabiting the American Southwest, Mother Earth and Father Sky were the parents of the first living beings, including the first humans who emerged from the earth.
