Elegant Black Velvet Cake Recipe 🎂

 



Ingredients:  

- 2 cups all-purpose flour  

- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar  

- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder  

- 2 teaspoons baking powder  

- 1 teaspoon baking soda  

- 1/2 teaspoon salt  

- 2 large eggs  

- 1 cup buttermilk  

- 1/2 cup vegetable oil  

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract  

- 1 cup hot water  

- 1 teaspoon black food coloring (optional, for deeper

color)  


Directions:  

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour

two 9-inch round cake pans.  

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa

powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.  

3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add buttermilk, oil,

vanilla extract, and black food coloring if using. Mix until

combined.  

4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry

ingredients, mixing until smooth. Stir in the hot water to

thin the batter.  

5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake

for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the

center comes out clean.  

6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then

transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

Tips:  

- For a richer flavor, add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee to

the dry ingredients to enhance the chocolate taste.

twist.  

- Top with cream cheese frosting and fresh berries for an

elegant presentation and added freshness.
