Bigfoot

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a mysterious creature that has piqued the interest of both scientists and paranormal enthusiasts. Described as a massive, bipedal ape covered in thick fur, Bigfoot is often confused with the Asian yeti. Numerous testimonies, including the remarkable account by Albert Ostman, who was allegedly captured by a family of ape-men in Canada in 1924, contribute to the legend of this creature. Although there are films suggesting authentic Bigfoot encounters, many questions regarding its existence remain unanswered.

Bigfoot, or as the Native Americans call it, Sasquatch, appears to be very closely related to, or even the same species as, the Asian yeti. Like the yeti, according to witnesses, it is a huge, tailless, bipedal ape, covered entirely in thick, dark brown or gray fur.

The most common evidence of this animal's existence is the discovery of tracks that bear a striking resemblance to human footprints, aside from the enormous size of the tracks (hence the animal's English name). It's very rare to spot ape-men, although a film purporting to depict this extraordinary creature exists.

Perhaps the most extraordinary account of a Big Foot encounter was given by Albert Ostman, a seasonal logger from Fort Langley in 1924. He claims to have held an entire family of apes hostage for a week, 60 kilometers north of Vancouver, Canada. He was searching for a lost gold mine with his Native American guide. After a while, he ordered his companion to stay because he wouldn't share the gold he hoped to find.

During his journey, strange events occurred every night. Upon waking in the morning, Ostman noticed that his belongings were scattered, and some items were missing. The mysterious visitor's visits continued night after night. Finally, the thief gained enough courage to pick up the sleeping lumberjack one night and begin carrying him. He carried the frightened man to his hideout, where Ostman noticed several more creatures. The male who brought it back was the largest, measuring about 2 m and 40 cm tall. Next to him stood a female about 30 cm shorter, as well as a young male measuring 2 m and 10 cm, and the shortest young female. The only parts of the body that were bare were the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, the top of the nose, and around the eyes. The ears were hidden by a thick layer of hair. The hair on the head was about 15 cm long; on the body, it was shorter but much thicker.

Once the initial fear subsided, Ostman realized he was in a deep, tiny hollow with high rock walls. The only exit was to the northeast, 2.5 meters wide and 6 meters high at its highest point. It turned out the traveler had most of his belongings, including a rifle and chewing tobacco. He tried several times to escape his unusual prison, but was always stopped by the old male.

Ostman considered killing the animal, but he wasn't sure if bullets would be enough. During the week he was held captive, he made several observations about the unusual creatures' lifestyle. They subsisted on roots, nuts, and edible forest plants; Ostman had never seen them eat meat. They slept on moss-covered rock ledges, and within this peculiar family, a strict division of labor prevailed.

Finally, a chance to escape arose. The old male decided to find out what chewing tobacco tasted like, so he took the lumberjack's entire tin and ate it with gusto.

"After a few minutes," Ostman said, "he started rolling his eyes and staring straight ahead. It was clear he was feeling sick. He grabbed the pot of cold coffee and drank it, but it brought him no relief. He put his head between his knees and began to rock. Then he started squealing like a wounded pig. I grabbed the shotgun. I said to myself: it's now or never. If he tries to stop me, I'll shoot him between the eyes. But he needed water and trudged toward the spring. I packed all my belongings into my backpack. The young Sasquatch ran for his mother, who also began squealing. I started toward the entrance. The female was right behind me. I turned and fired over her head."Ostman began to run, and after a day and a half, he felt free. No one was pursuing him. Thus ends perhaps the strangest tale of a Big Foot encounter.

Returning to the film about this creature: so far, no one has questioned its authenticity. It was filmed in 1967. Roger Patterson was riding along a stream when his horse spooked. The researcher noticed something strange, grabbed the camera, dismounted, and began filming the strange creature. At first, the camera shakes, then a clear view emerges of a bipedal ape-man walking calmly toward the forest. The animal is slightly hunched, its knees bent, and it swings its arms vigorously as it walks. After a few seconds, it turns and looks at the cameraman again. It does this in a way that a human wouldn't, turning with its entire body, not just its head. Its gait is also exceptionally sluggish and unlike that of a human or any other animal.

The authenticity of this short (approximately 10 seconds) video was confirmed by Professor Grover Krantz, an anthropologist at the University of Washington. He believes that no human disguised as an ape could have moved in such a distinctive manner
