Lord of the Flies - sequel
But Tommy opened his eyes at the wrong moment...
***
They counted and counted, yet it still seemed to them that one boy was missing, the smallest one, pale and constantly terrified. Then they searched, searching for a long time, but they found him nowhere. Not under the rocks, not in the hut, not even in the clearing. He disappeared...just like that. They couldn't wait any longer; they flew away without him. The other boys were no longer interested in him; they just wanted to get home to their parents, their toys, their other friends.
***
Tommy, as always, went to bed at this time. He liked this place because no one could find him, not the mischievous Jake or the others who were his subordinates. And most importantly, the Lord of the Flies couldn't find him either.
He was far away, in the clearing, impaled on a stick, staring with those black abysses instead of eyes, from which insects flew in and out. So large, powerful, and ancient, yet so primitive. Even though Tommy knew about Him, he never dared go to the famous clearing. He was simply afraid...
***
A week passed, and the boy had already lost hope that they would return for him; they had forgotten and that was that. How could they??? He hadn't expected to survive a whole week alone on the island, but somehow he had. He ran to the beach and climbed the highest rock, just like he had done every day for the past week; it was slowly becoming his obsession. He searched for a ship, a helicopter, anything... but he saw nothing, and a quiet sob escaped his chest. He had no strength left; he was hungry and tired.
That same evening, Tommy promised himself that if no one showed up on the island by tomorrow, he would go to the Lord of the Flies and ask Him to free him or kill him.
***
He looked at him... though he couldn't see him, he felt it. The way you feel when someone is watching you, someone is observing you. He walked slowly, lifting his legs was becoming difficult. He didn't know if it was from fear or exhaustion.
When she was a good few meters away, a slow, lazy buzzing began to reach his ears. His flies, his companions, his subjects, were nowhere in the least agitated. It was hot, and they could hide in the shadow of his skull.
Tommy moved closer; now he didn't care; in the last minutes of his life, he wanted to get a good look at Him.
***
The flesh was almost gone; the bloody skull and the small flap of skin hanging from the back were an image that made Tommy want to vomit. But he didn't stop looking...
When the flies caught his scent, they perked up a bit and began to buzz around the Master, every now and then flying into the black abyss that once formed his eyes. He was smiling, yes, Tommy was sure of it, it was a smile. The protruding teeth... it all seemed like some nightmare. He closed his eyes for a moment.

"Why did you come?"
"I-I want to ask you for something," the boy stammered and looked down.
"What do you want??? Do you know that I can kill you in an instant? Like that boy who wanted to rule but wasn't strong enough... fell off a cliff, do you think it was an accident?"
"I-I don't know, it wasn't n-not there then."
"Shut up!"
Tommy felt himself getting wet, sweat was literally dripping off him, his long hair was stuck to his forehead and wouldn't come off for any reason. He couldn't raise his hand to brush it away, so he moved his head slightly, trying to toss it aside. It was the last thing he did, though no, not the last...
***
He had had enough of this; no pig's head, or not, was going to tell him what to do. So what if he could kill? He didn't care anymore.
He staggered over to the stick holding the skull, yanked it out of the ground, and felt faint, but he didn't throw it aside; on the contrary, he lifted it up.
"Is this the Great Lord of the Flies?" he laughed. "The one who can read minds and direct people's actions? The same one?"
Tommy was met with deafening silence, which confused him a bit. He decided to run to the beach and end the unfortunate skull's life.
He ran and ran for what seemed like an eternity, and even longer, but finally he saw the beautiful blue water and rocks that rose toward the sky. Holding the skull under his arm, he began to climb. Once at the top, he looked one last time at the Lord of the Flies, the defeated Lord...
***
"Boy, you don't know what you're doing.
" Tommy laughed.
"I know perfectly well, I want to destroy the nightmare that you are
." It's the biggest mistake you'll make in your short life if you destroy me now
." "Shut up!" Tommy shouted and threw the Lord onto the bare rocks. It shattered and disappeared into the water...

A few years later...
***
"Jesus, how did we get here?" the girl said
. "Kate, don't you remember? Our ship crashed, we sailed for miles to get here.
" "Oh yes, God, I don't want to die, tell me we won't, tell me."
"No, we won't, there's no way, someone will definitely save us sooner or later.
" "Although, maybe we'll find something to eat, I'm terribly hungry.
" ***
The girl's scream drowned out everything, even the buzzing of the flies. What she saw was the image of her greatest nightmares...
Before her stood the New Lord of the Flies, even larger and more powerful, from what she could see between the clouds of flies, it was a human skull, the human skull of a little boy...
