The Heat of the Earth

Richard Milton: "Although some believe that the Earth was cooled as its liquid interior lost heat, we now know that the Earth's overall temperature is constant; as heat is lost through the surface, this loss is balanced by heat generated in the mantle by radioactive decay."

However, if the Earth's temperature is constant only because radioactive materials decay, doesn't the "inner Sun" help in some way to maintain a warm climate?

The C-class intergalactic fighter, aptly named " Balbina ," glided with characteristic grace toward the constellation Beta D . The unassuming craft, shaped like a Coca-Cola bottle with the neck cut off, moved through the vastness of the universe with incredible grace.
