Dormitory
I'm a third-year student at a teacher training college. I live in the dorm because I'm not from around here. I'm interested in the unknown and the mysterious. It's scary, of course, but it's also interesting. Events related to something like that rarely happen to me, but when they do, it's completely kaput.
During my first month living in the dorm, I didn't interact with many people. A little later, I met a guy (he was a third-year student at the time, like me now). His name is Rostislav. He's an ordinary guy—I didn't notice any quirks. So, he told me about a ghost in our dorm. Naturally, I didn't believe it, although it was interesting.
He told me this. It was as if there was an orphan girl who studied at our college, and she had a boyfriend, and then she got pregnant. Her boyfriend either died or left her. And the girl hanged herself in her room.
The weird thing is: she lived on the fourth floor, and now that floor is locked with a chain and a sturdy padlock. When I asked the dorm manager why, I learned the floor was in a critical condition—the roof was leaking, etc. When I was a freshman, someone broke the lock and wandered around the floor, and then a crowd of girls came running. When the dorm manager found out, she almost expelled the culprits, yelling at them not to go there anymore. After that, I began to think the floor wasn't closed solely because it was in a critical condition.
Rostik once told me another story. He was a freshman at the time. When they started locking the fourth floor, the dorm mechanics were carrying out furniture and other things. Rostislav and his friend Renat (he was expelled for poor academic performance in his second year) helped them. At the entrance to the hallway on the floor, about five meters away, there was a closet, and Rostik told me they saw its door open and a white hand flash as it opened it from the inside. Naturally, they nearly shit themselves and never went back there again.
The story was interesting, but I thought he was just trying to scare me, until one day we went out together to the block to smoke. It was on the third floor, where Rostislav lived. We were standing by the faucet, smoking, and suddenly we heard sounds from above, like someone walking around the block. Then a door slammed, and water ran, as if a faucet had been turned on upstairs. This lasted for about five minutes, then died down. And Rostik stood there and said, "Here, do you hear that?" It was terrifying, really.
The second time I encountered this phenomenon happened when I was walking from a friend's house to my room. I was walking down the hallway (I live on the second floor) and heard what sounded like someone singing. It wasn't even singing, but rather a quiet cry or howl. And the sound seemed to be coming from the wall. I ran to my friend Sanya, brought him there, and asked, "Can you hear it?" He said he could. We stood there for a while and then went to bed.
And the girls who live in the dorm tell me a lot (I've acquired the status of something of an expert on the supernatural—if anything happens, they come running, terrified, and tell stories). For example, one girl has been woken up at night for two months by something, like something pushing her. Others hear knocking in the wall. Still others hear someone moving chairs in the room of their upstairs neighbors (they're in class at the time). And my classmate dreamed twice about the dead girl asking him for something. He lives right below the room where she hanged herself. Such strange things...
