Saule – the sun goddess, wife of Menu and lover of Perkuno. Her cult took the form of breeding a harmless green snake. Saule was depicted as a woman pouring light from a jug. The golden liquid she lavished on the world was the source of life, the warmth longed for after the harsh northern winter. The myth of Saule tells how she was rescued from the sea by twins of unknown names, who built her a shed where the goddess could rest. According to Latvians, the stars were the children of Menu and Saule. Only the Morning Star, Venus, was said to be the child of the union of Saule and Perkuno, the thunder god. For this reason, the moon god, full of shame and anger, avoided his wife and appeared only at night, while the sun goddess could be seen throughout the day.

Wajwa - goddess personifying the rainbow.

Wakarine - goddess of the Evening Star, daughter of the Sun.
