Christmas delivery

It was frosty. Snow fell on the streets, completely obscuring the black asphalt. The entire city was white and full of holiday spirit. Only... only a little boy walked around sadly, watching people. He stopped believing that Christmas was a happy time. He also didn't believe in Santa Claus or the kindness of people. He became distrustful. The streets raised their children quite differently than real people. The streets... it was a place where the rule of the fist prevailed, but he was still so young. What could have happened in his life to make him stop trusting people? No one knew until the old woman approached him and he started talking to her normally. Without fear, without distrust. Why? Perhaps because she had pure kindness in her eyes. She invited him into her home. Entering, he noticed that she was a poor woman. She had very little in her house, but she was still happy about everything. He asked why she was so happy:
"It's Christmas, after all." It's time to rejoice and spend time with family. I don't have any, but maybe you can keep me company this day?" the old woman asked. "I don't know if I can," he replied. "Of course you can. You don't have anyone like me, and I wouldn't want to spend Christmas alone," the old woman replied with a smile. He agreed, but he didn't know what he could give her in return for her hospitality. He decided he would help her prepare for Christmas dinner. He also gave her his friendship, which was more precious than any gift. Friendship had once been unattainable for him, but thanks to this woman, he realized how much he had lost.
Dinner time arrived. At the modestly decorated table and the decorated living Christmas tree by the window, they shared the Christmas wafer. While exchanging wishes, the boy noticed a star that seemed to be flying towards the house. He didn't know why. He went out with the old woman and began to look at the sky. It was so cloudless that he could see all the stars, but he didn't see this one. Entering the house, he thought he was hallucinating, but as he approached the window, he noticed presents under the Christmas tree. He didn't know where they had come from. Next to the package with his name on it, he noticed a note. He opened it and began to read: "Dear boy! I'm grateful to you for taking care of my grandmother. You didn't have to do it, but you didn't deny her spending the holidays with her. She is a very lonely and kind woman who lost her children last Christmas. You probably didn't know that. Thank you for the gift of your love for her. She also loved you like a son. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!" Tears flowed from his eyes as he read the note. He truly loved this woman like the grandmother he never had. He stayed with her for the next Christmas and the next.

I felt very strange. Although I had never been able to swim, I was now floating on the ocean waves. What's more, despite my innate avers...
