Adam and the blind woman

A meeting was organized in the café, and the lawyer, Slavist, and Adam reappeared. They discussed blind people and their difficulties in performing everyday tasks. A number of opinions were expressed. A debate ensued. Everything indicated that a conclusion was still far from being reached. Adam, trying to calm the audience, cited the example of a certain girl: "
Listen, gentlemen, in the past I met a blind girl with enormous potential. She possessed a deep erudition. You're probably wondering how a blind girl acquired such comprehensive and extensive knowledge. Well, you'll agree with me that blind people see the world through someone else's eyes. The girl I met observed, scrutinized, and observed the world through the lucid and sharp eyes of her mother, and also through the eyes of her grandfather, a seasoned man who ate bread from more than one oven. Her mother read her countless books, delved into various aspects of art, and initiated music courses for her. Over the years, the girl began to operate the piano keys with increasing skill. Her grandfather, meanwhile, regaled her with stories from the occupation, shared his own experiences with her, conveyed expressive words and luscious phrases in his crisp language, and fostered a concise spirit within her. Her mother and grandfather opened her mind to the wealth of experiences surrounding her.
During our conversation, I asked the blind girl if she could picture my appearance. She gently touched my face with her frail hand and declared that she was wandering in the darkness, trying to make up for everything with her imagination. Believing that a blind person's imagination functions quite differently than, for example, mine, I tactfully and discreetly asked her what it was and how her imagination worked. She kindly replied that her imagination consisted of touch, hearing, and the other senses.
"Excuse me," the lawyer interrupted. "I read in a certain monthly magazine that society has divided into two groups. There are people who believe that blind people are incapable of anything and that nothing should be expected of them, but there is also a large group who strongly believe in their abilities. What justifies this?"
"Frankly, I don't know," Adam replied uncertainly. "It may be due to the eternal laws that govern human nature. You've introduced a digression into my statement, may I continue?
" "Of course, please forgive me," the lawyer replied humbly.
"So I was saying that her imagination is based on the senses. She also told me that when she listens to music, she floats out of the darkness onto a fairy-tale surface. Gentlemen, you will agree with me that this girl is a phenomenon—I can unhesitatingly admit it—on a global scale!"
"I agree with you," the Slavist declared. "But Braille does exist. Does this girl know it? It's widely used in every notation, so in my opinion, she should be able to operate this ingenious invention created exclusively for the needs of the blind.
" "Well, sir, this writing, although constantly improved, is not convenient, because books take up a lot of space, and, incidentally, publishing them is extremely expensive. It's used very rarely in poor countries. Naturally, in our country as well."
"Such facilities open up new paths of development, and also ignite enthusiasm, willingness, and give the blind courage, boldness, and encouragement," said the Advocate. "
A blind woman told the press that she heard the roar of an engine in a dream..."
The conversation was interrupted by a radio announcement about another terrorist attack.
