Polish Bigfoot?

The report of a hominid resembling the famous Bigfoot in Poland appears to be highly unconfirmed. It occurred in the late 19th century near the town of Orynka (now in Belarus). According to a few descriptions, the creature was approximately 2 to 2.4 meters tall and covered in dark fur, revealing only its nose, eyes, and mouth. The animal could walk upright, on its knees, on all fours, and even run sideways. It fed on tree debris and sometimes fish. It made snorting sounds reminiscent of a horse's neighing.

There are several accounts of Getzko. One tells of a young boy who didn't return home during a terrible storm. The next day, when he returned, he said a hairy giant had dragged him into a cave and held him there until the storm subsided . Another time, one of the "black riders" (as the Cossacks were known) went into the forest to kill an animal. Two days later, his horse returned with the rider's head missing. The town doctor said the wound looked as if the head had been ripped off, not severed.

There are several theories attempting to explain the Getzko mystery. One suggests that a hominid may indeed have survived in Europe, although a much more likely theory is that the Getzko was... a hermit. Another theory suggests that it was an ape. However, the forest areas were so small and so intensively managed that it would have been impossible for such a large animal to have survived undetected.
