Strange clouds

Clouds are fluffy, compact masses of water vapor, aren't they? Consider this: in a clear sky in August 1814, a small, white, spherical cloud was observed near Agen, France. It hovered motionless for a moment before it began to rotate and move southward. Witnesses described a deafening boom emanating from the cloud, which exploded, unleashing a shower of stones and rocks. The cloud slowly began to dissipate.

Here's one example of an incredibly rare and highly unusual type of cloud. Other documented accounts speak of clouds moving faster than the wind, clouds raining insects, or clouds casting peculiar shadows. There's a story of a man from Oyster Bay, Long Island, USA, who was attacked by a spitting cloud. It's difficult to find any rational explanation for these stories.
