# **The Poisoned Glass of Wine – A Psychological Thriller**

The silence in the apartment was almost palpable. Every sound – the ticking clock, the faint creaking of the floor – seemed to scream her decision. Anna stood at the table, her hand cupping a crystal glass of red wine, gazing at its deep color. The wine smelled of fruit and earth, but beneath that pleasant note lay death.

*"There's no turning back,"* she thought. "I can't let it all go to waste."*

**Flashback 1 – The First Shadow of Betrayal**

Months earlier, Anna had noticed changes in Marek's behavior. Innocent lateness at work had turned into long evenings without explanation. His phone was always with him, and the texts she accidentally saw made her heart break. There were words she didn't want to read: meetings, promises, a laugh that wasn't hers.

*"I can't trust him. Not after all this,"* she repeated in her mind.

**Back to the present**

Marek entered the apartment, tired but smiling, completely unaware of the trap. Anna handed him a glass of wine, and his eyes met hers for a moment. There was a tenderness in that gaze that she had once loved—and a hatred she had been forced to cultivate.

*"The first sip, and it would all be over. It would be the end of his secrets… and the end of my suffering."*

**Flashback 2 – Moments of Planning**

Anna spent weeks preparing. Every detail had to be perfect: the type of poison, the quantity, the speed of its action. She tested the substance on potted plants, watching them slowly wither. She knew Marek wouldn't suffer violently. This was supposed to be a quiet revenge, calm and inevitable.

*"I don't want him to scream. I just want the truth… for him to walk away with what he's done."*

**Present – Climax**

Marek raised his glass and took his first sip. At first, he smiled, delighted by the taste. Then his face contorted with pain.

"What… what…" he whispered, gripping the table, but the words caught in his throat.

Anna knelt beside him, gently smoothing her hair. Her eyes were cold but calm, and an endless conversation was going on in her head:

*"He deserved the truth. I deserve closure. Now everything will be clear. Now everything is mine."*

Marek tried to stand, tried to grab her hand, but his body betrayed him completely. His eyes widened in disbelief, a shadow of betrayal and shock reflected in them.

**Flashback 3 – Night Vigil**

That same day, Anna sat at the table for hours, staring at the glasses, counting the time. Each tick of the clock was like a countdown. She replayed the scenario in her mind: Marek approaches, raises his glass, drinks… silence. In that silence, he was supposed to leave, and she was supposed to remain calm.

*"I can't go back. This isn't just anger anymore. It's necessity. This is my act of justice."*

**Finale**

Marek collapsed to the floor. The wine glass fell onto the table, leaving a red mark, a testament to betrayal and revenge. Anna slowly stood up, took the glass, and looked at it one last time.

*"There is no triumph. There is only the end… and the beginning of a void I must fill."*

Outside, the night was cold and windless. The streetlights cast her shadow on the cobblestone sidewalk – a lonely woman who had taken her life in one silent sip.

*"There was no choice. Only necessity. And now I can move on."*
