We will find aliens on Earth," says Paul Davis, a physicist and director of the Space Research Center at Arizona State University in Tempe, USA. "One of the most extraordinary mysteries of science is the origin of life on Earth. How did it happen? Where? When? In my opinion, we will soon be able to answer this question. Finding life or traces of it on another planet, such as Mars, would be crucial. Or finding evidence that life originated on Earth multiple times, not just once, in the history of our planet. After all, aliens could be right here, right under our noses. Most life on Earth is microorganisms, and it's impossible to tell whether a bacterium is 'ours' or 'extraterrestrial' just by looking at it through a microscope. This requires complex chemical studies to determine what the bacterium is made of. Such searches for Earth's aliens have already begun. And if they are indeed here, we will soon learn about them." And if it turns out that all life on Earth does not have a common origin, this will constitute irrefutable proof of its existence in the universe.
