Burning Mountain
After a short conversation, Renek and I set out to check for any energy anomalies in the area. At the foot of the hill where the unfortunate farm stands, I noticed several small, bare patches in the meadow. Apparently, nothing had been growing there for a long time. Measuring equipment detected abnormal radiation levels in these areas.
Walking away from the house and the meadow, I came across marshes and a young forest nursery. Beyond the marshes was another hill. As I learned, it had recently become part of the village's history. For three years, from 1991 to 1993, peat burned underground. Later, part of the ground caved in, creating a small lake. During that time, water gushed from the farm's well, bringing with it the remains of fossilized bones. I asked Renek about the roadside cross near his farm. "That's where my father and a neighbor died seven years ago. They went to the village to get a bottle. On their way back, a car pulled out from the opposite direction, and instead of slowing down, they accelerated and ran straight into the car as if they hadn't even seen it."
