Probability

Can coincidence be an offshoot of probability with predictability leading to order? For example, when a study was conducted to count the number of dog bites in New York City, each bite turned out to be accidental, but the annual bite statistics hardly changed from year to year.

If we take a radioactive isotope, the decay of its particles is completely unpredictable, but the isotope has a finite half-life. Even physicists like Paul Dirac would argue that there is only one word capable of describing the unique equilibrium that led to the creation of the universe and life. Coincidence.

However, Carl Jung was also fascinated by coincidences as he developed his theory of synchronicity, in which he argued that coincidences can be so astonishing that perhaps the mind plays a role, influencing the environment so that a coincidence occurs.
