Grilled Rice Patty Sandwiches


Ingredients
0.5 red onion
1 tbsp olive oil
2 slices cheese
4 slices rye bread
0.75 cups brown rice
0.5 cups walnuts
0.5 cups pecans
0.5 cups sunflower seeds
0.25 cups oatmeal
4 cloves garlic
2 tsp oregano
0.25 tsp paprika
0.5 onion
0.25 tsp ground black pepper
0.5 tsp salt
1 egg

In a saucepan, pour 3 cups of water over the washed rice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 30-35 minutes. Remove from heat and drain any excess water. In a large skillet, toast the pecans, walnuts, and seeds over low heat for 4-5 minutes. Let cool. In a blender, puree the oats until they form a flour.


Add the nuts and seeds to the oats and continue blending until smooth. Add the garlic, spices, cooked rice, and onion, then add the egg and blend until ground.


Wet your hands with cold water, divide the ground meat into 8 portions, form into balls, and then into 8 patties. Set aside two for later cooking, and freeze the rest for future use.


Slice the red onion into rings and grill or fry with a pinch of salt and sugar. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan or grill. Fry each patty for 6-8 minutes on each side. Place thin slices of cheese on top of the patties to melt. Brush the bread with the remaining vegetable oil and grill or fry for 1-2 minutes on each side. Assemble the burger and enjoy.
