Ingredients
6 Pears
750 ml Dry Red Wine
500 g Sour Cream
11 Cloves
50 g Powdered Sugar
2 Cinnamon Sticks
1 tsp Cornstarch
1 Vanilla Pod
Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact. Cut a small circle off the bottom to help the pears sit in the pan. Bring the wine to a boil with the sugar, cloves, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Place the pears in the bottom of the pan, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, maintaining a gentle simmer. Check the wine level periodically to ensure the pears are completely covered.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked pears to a serving dish. Remove the cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla from the wine in the saucepan. Cool.
Dust with a little powdered sugar. Cover the pears with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate. Serve with sour cream on the side.
