Scream of the Dead

INTRODUCTION

It's a chilly autumn. An elderly, highly superstitious woman lives in one of the buildings with her family.

She professes faith in Satan and, through daily prayers, receives orders from him.

One night, Satan sends her two demons, who tell her to kill her family. Whether she will carry out this order and what her fate will be, you will learn by reading this book. It is dedicated to readers with strong nerves, as it keeps you in suspense throughout.

I Satanistka

It was October 1992. It was cold in Warsaw. The wind was blowing hard, and colorful leaves were falling from the trees. It was getting dark, and rain was beginning to fall. A massive storm had broken out. The lights in the apartments went out, only the glow of a burning candle could be seen in a fourth-story window.

Dagmara Kotumska lived there with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law. She was a very old and superstitious woman, with long gray hair and brown eyes. She had a surprisingly small mouth and a snub nose, supported by enormous glasses. Her face was covered with a thousand wrinkles. She was short.

The old woman believed in vampires and considered herself one of them. Every night, by candlelight, she recited prayers to Satan.

The room where she prayed was terrifying. It was decorated with all sorts of black crosses and skeleton figurines. Bloody daggers lay on the floor, and tiny iron tombs stood on the window.

No one except Dagmara entered this room. Her family feared her and wouldn't speak to her. She, on the other hand, treated them as enemies, as none of her relatives believed in Satan.

People considered her mentally ill, but no one suspected he could kill a human.

Dagmara was preparing to pray. She put on a long black dress and began lighting candles. When the entire room was filled with light, she knelt down and began to utter the words:

"Satan, I await your orders

. If you can hear me, send demons and vampires to prove it

..." Suddenly, a window opened and a strong wind began to blow. Flying figures appeared in the sky. They were heading towards the Satanist's apartment.

They were enormous, with bulging eyes and a very crooked nose, from under which protruded sharp fangs. Their bodies were covered with mucus and were greenish-black in color. They flew into the room and said in a hoarse voice:

"We are demons, and Satan has sent us to deliver his orders to you

." Now listen carefully

. "You will kill your family with one of his bloody daggers, then carry them to the cemetery and bury them with your own hands.

" "If you don't do this, Satan will kill you!"

"You have three days to complete this mission."

"Satan, I will gladly obey your command," the woman said, bowing before the departing demons.

After a moment, everything returned to normal. A gentle breeze from the courtyard could be felt again. The woman closed the window and, saying,

"I am Satan's messenger," concluded her daily prayer.

II. An Astonishing Dinner

The next morning, the woman went to the room where her daughter and husband were and announced with satisfaction,

"I invite you and your father to dinner tonight

." "We'll come," the very surprised girl replied

. As soon as it began to get dark, Dagmara prepared the dishes. Before she knew it, the guests arrived. They began to eat the prepared dishes, but no one dared to say a word.

They sat motionless for two hours until the old woman finally said,

"Excuse me, everyone, but I have to go to the bathroom."

As soon as she reached the threshold, the smile vanished. She pulled a dagger from the pocket of her long, black dress and called out to her daughter. Unsuspecting, she entered the restroom. Before she could realize what was happening, the old woman stabbed her in the stomach. A piercing scream rang out...

Moments later, two men entered the room. When they saw the girl lying in a pool of blood, they realized they were in danger. Suddenly, the father shouted,

"Watch out, behind you!" But it was too late. The next victim lay on the floor with his throat slit. The old man was so stunned by both murders that he didn't have the strength to fight Dagmara, so he, too, was killed in cold blood.

After a short rest, Kotumska packed her victims into bags and carried them to a nearby cemetery to bury them. It was pitch black; she could only see the faint outlines of crosses. The air smelled of rotting bones. She walked for a long time, through narrow paths, until she finally reached a large field shrouded in fog. She knelt on the green lawn and began digging a huge hole with her hands. After a few hours, she got up and threw the victims in. Then she buried them, and on the small grave she placed a wooden cross with the inscription:

"THEY DID NOT BELIEVE IN SATAN."

Kotumska's neighbor, Jolanta Rossa, witnessed the entire incident through her window.

She was a very determined, tall woman. She had long, red hair and green eyes. Her figure resembled a slender human figure.

She lived with her five-year-old daughter, Klaudia, in a studio apartment next to Dagmara's. While her daughter slept, she carefully watched the woman bury the dead. Therefore, she decided to pay her a visit.

Suspicion III:

As soon as she heard footsteps on the stairs, she went out into the hallway.

"Good morning, ma'am," she said to Kotumska, who, oblivious, entered the apartment.

A moment later, she heard a knock on the door. She opened it and, seeing Jolanta, asked,

"What are you looking for here?"

"I just wanted to talk," the young woman replied calmly.

"I saw through the window how the lady was burying three full bags at the cemetery," she continued

. Hearing these words, the old woman opened the door wide and invited her in.

When the young woman saw a bloodstain in the toilet, fear gripped her. Pretending she hadn't seen anything, she asked Dagmara,

"What were you burying in those bags?"

"What do you care?! It's none of your business," the old woman replied vulgarly, wanting to cover up the murder.

"The bags looked like they had people in them, and if necessary, I'll call the police to check it out," Jolanta suggested hesitantly, then stepped out into the hallway.

From the staircase, she heard Dagmara shouting at her,

"If you breathe a word to the police or anyone else, demons will haunt you for the rest of your life."

Jolanta didn't believe a word of it, and despite the sight of blood in the bathroom, she decided to go to the police station the next day and speak with the district police officer.

She told him everything about the suspicious case, but he, incredulous, ordered her to come back the next day.

IV Satan's Deadly Order

Meanwhile, prayer was taking place in Dagmara's apartment. This time, however, it was different than usual. The walls were shaking, and one of the black crosses was beginning to enlarge. When it was large enough, it began to crack, and in its cracks, fragments of a black robe could be seen. When all the pieces of wood scattered around the room, Satan appeared before the woman.

He looked like a very tall man with a completely white face and snake eyes. He had small tufts of black hair on his head, as black as a thorn. He was dressed in a long black coat and resembled a dead man.

He praised the old woman with satisfaction for completing her previous task. He also told her that Jolanta had reported her to the police. He told her what to do, and then disappeared from the terrifying room.

Immediately after returning from the police station, Rossa went to her neighbor.

"I was at the police station about your case, and they told me to come back tomorrow

. If you still don't intend to tell me what was in the buried bags, I'll go to the police station and report you again.

" "Are you sure you want to know? The bodies of my family were there." With that, Dagmara lunged at the young woman.

She grabbed her by the neck and began choking her. Jolanta, unable to breathe, pushed her away with difficulty and then headed for the door. She was about to run when the Satanist suddenly grabbed her by the clothes and dragged her to the bathroom, where she forced her head into the toilet, preventing her from breathing. Within minutes, Rossa was still motionless. She had been drowned.

Dagmara dragged the girl's body with difficulty to the river and threw it into the rushing water.

V. Visitation.

By killing Jolanta, the Satanist orphaned a five-year-old child. The girl had no family, so she was placed in an orphanage.

After thirteen years in a care home, Klaudia returned to her own apartment. She was no longer a child; she was eighteen, but she still didn't know the cause of her mother's death.

* * *

The night was overcast. Fog hung in the air. The outline of a woman in a long, white dress could be seen over the nearby river.

It was the ghost of the once-murdered Jolanta Rossa. It was heading toward Klaudia's apartment. The girl was sleeping. Suddenly, the sound of a window opening woke her. She got up and anxiously moved toward the open window. With horror, she saw her mother, for whom time had stopped at the moment of death.

She looked identical to the moment her daughter had last seen her. She recalled the happy moments from her childhood, spent with her loving mother.

Suddenly the figure spoke to her:

"Don't be afraid, I've come to see you again after all these years and tell you about my death

." "Now listen.

" "In the apartment next door lives a very old woman who believes in Satan.

" "She killed her family, then packed them in sacks and buried them in the cemetery.

" "I saw her digging a huge hole in the middle of the night, so I went to the police.

" "But no one believed me.

" "I asked her what she'd buried, and she replied that they were the bodies of her daughter, son-in-law, and husband, and then she started strangling me.

" "She was strong, so I couldn't do anything.

" "She put my head in the toilet and drowned me

." "Then she dragged my body to the river and threw it into the water.

" "I'm telling you this so you can take revenge and kill her

." "She's done a lot of harm to many people, and in the end, she has to pay for it

." "Remember, she's strong and cunning, and be careful," the figure said, and then disappeared from the room.

Klaudia couldn't believe her eyes and stood motionless for a long time after the ghost had vanished. Only after some time did she recover and lie down in bed. For a long time she couldn't sleep, pondering the apparition's words. She didn't know that her mother had been murdered by a Satanist. She decided to take revenge.

VI Death

The next day, the girl pondered how to kill the Satanist, who was dealing with demons. She realized it wouldn't be easy, as the demons could warn the old woman of her daughter's revenge.

Several weeks passed, during which Klaudia, unable to sleep or eat, pondered the task her dead mother had given her. Throughout this time, she closely observed the Satanist's apartment and her behavior.

One day, she asked a friend who was a firefighter to use a fire truck to nail a cross over a designated window, and that evening, she drew a cross with chalk on the old woman's door. This prevented the demons from contacting the old woman.

It was midnight. To enter the apartment, Klaudia disguised herself in a black, torn coat, applied red dye to her hair, and painted her eyes black and gray.

In this disguise, she knocked on Kotumska's door, holding a dagger. The old woman thought they were demons, as no one came to see her. She opened the door without hesitation, expecting nothing.

Klaudia, in the guise of Satan, ordered Dagmara to prove her faith one last time. She convinced the old woman that if she transferred Satan's power to her, she would become immortal, and as proof of this, she could stab herself in the heart and live.

The old woman agreed. Claudia, keeping up the pretense, arranged candles to form a circle of death and ordered them lit. Then the old woman lay down inside and took a knife, which she plunged into her heart.

At that moment, electrical discharges rang out, and lightning flashed across the sky like never before. However, the morning was already bright, and Claudia was happy that she would be able to live in peace.

VII. Claudia's Happy Life

Claudia was pleased with what she had done. She had avenged her mother's death, and that made her happy. She often went to the river, to the place where her mother had been thrown. Then she would say,

"Mom, the woman who killed you is dead

." She was stupid enough to stab herself in the heart.

"She won't murder anyone anymore." Afterward, she returned home

. From the moment of the murder, her life became more serene. She soon married a handsome young man, with whom she had three wonderful children. They were two boys, Krzysztof and Darek, and a girl whom Klaudia named Jolanta.

After a few years, no one remembered the once-living Dagmara Kotumska. The girl also didn't mention her to anyone.

She had many friends. Her best friend was a woman who lived in Kotumska's apartment.

For the rest of her life, Klaudia never met anyone who believed in Satan. She was enveloped in love and lived out the rest of her life happily with her husband and children.
