The Four Natures of Life: Love
"Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Minnesota, Toronto, Chicago, Rio De Janeiro, New York, Miami –
these are the largest cities in both Americas, which were completely destroyed by the meteorite shower. The space rocks
also destroyed all human settlements in North and South America – from small villages to other
metropolises with several million inhabitants. As a result of the bombardment of the Pacific Ocean, huge tsunami waves were created in all open
water bodies, which flooded millions of coastal towns around the world. The entire
Western Europe, from Portugal and England to France and Italy, is destroyed.
The meteorite showers are still heading east. In less than 15 minutes, Germany and Western Poland will be bombarded, and
Eastern Poland will reach in 25 minutes at the latest. The same applies to all of Africa. After that, only Asia will remain
the only living area on Earth. But not for long. Astrophysicists estimate that the rain will stop in about 3-4 hours, and
then the Earth will practically cease to exist. exist. The smallest species won't survive, except maybe bacteria
and single-celled organisms. This is Armageddon."
"It's over," Grzesiek whispered under his breath, then with an irritated gesture he yanked the remote control and turned off the TV
, almost damaging the screen.
"It doesn't make sense, why now, when I'm in the world and I'm happy? It's unfair.
" "It had to be this way. Don't worry, everything will be alright," his mother consoled him.
His brother was sitting in his room, playing on the computer. He knew this was his last game, then all that would be left was
game over. Nothing could be done. The Americas had ceased to exist, just like the three European and African countries. The world was coming
to an end. Grzesiek was lost. Two hours ago he had returned from a meeting with Victoria. Two hours ago, America was
still a beautiful, rich, and powerful country. Now even the president was dead. The empire had fallen.
Grzesiek paced nervously around the room, constantly grabbing the phone. He wanted to call Wiktoria, hoping
they'd never see each other again. But he couldn't leave his family. He called his brother, asked his mother for a moment of attention. When his brother
entered the living room, he easily noticed the tears in Grzesiek's eyes. Grzesiek stood in the middle of the room and began to speak, the words
forcing themselves out of his mouth, as if he'd rather die than say them.
"Mom, little brother – I'm sorry, and I'm saying goodbye. I can't stay with you forever. I love you, I love you as much as
I can. But no, not as much as I love her. Mom, you know this well. I have to, because this is the last day of our lives.
I'm sorry."
He approached his brother, petted him, hugged him, whispered something in his ear, then hugged his mother, looked
into her eyes one last time, and kissed her cheek. Then only the tears in her eyes spoke for themselves, though perhaps it would be better if
they remained silent for a moment. Grzesiek grabbed the phone and immediately dialed Wiktoria's number. After the first ring, he heard
a voice from the receiver:
"I knew you'd call, I knew I'd been waiting by the phone for an hour, I couldn't, you know why,
Grzesiek, I don't want to die, not now I'm happy, we both are. Why—tell me, what happened?"
"Wiktoria, I love you and I won't die without you, please, let's look each other in the eyes one last time and tell each other
we love each other one last time. One last time, okay?" Grzesiek said.
"Everything, everything, just for this one last time, but how? We have less than 20 minutes left!
" "Run out of the house right after you hang up, and I'll do the same." You run to me, I'll meet you
halfway. But without any shortcuts, on our usual path, along this beautiful view, the one where we met. Okay?
"I love you! Just please take care of yourself. I won't die until I see you. I promise!
" "Okay, so let's hurry, bye."
Grzesiek hung up, said goodbye to his brother and mother once more, and quickly ran out of the house, not even closing the door.
He ran. He ran straight ahead. Tears welled in his eyes, breathing heavily. He didn't look around.
The sky was red and blue, all because of the meteorites. The streets were empty. No one, not even the homeless and the
city guards. The wind was strong, almost like a hurricane.
At times, you could feel its destructive power, but it quickly calmed down.
Grzesiek wouldn't even look at any of this. He ran ahead. He was already on the bridge connecting both sides of the city.
Despite the city authorities' earlier announcements, the streetlights were on almost everywhere. In the distance, he noticed a small object moving.
He already knew it was Wiktoria. No one else, no one, no other being in the world could be there now. Only her.
He started running faster and faster. And she was getting closer and closer. The streetlights she passed illuminated
her face every moment. She was beautiful. Like every day, but they would never forget this one, special, magical moment. They practically
ran into each other, immediately holding hands, then Grzesiek gently grabbed her temples and whispered
, "Only me and you, We're here now, Only me and you
." "I know," Wiktoria replied, her voice soft and calm, but they both knew what was coming.
They kissed, long and hard, the way people kiss who have been through a lot together and whose feelings are stronger.
The wind was getting stronger. It was hard for them to stay on their feet. But it
also had a small advantage. Wiktoria's long, dark blond hair swirled in the air, brushing
Grzesiek's face with its ends. It looked beautiful. Her hair gleamed beautifully in the streetlight. Within seconds,
a heavy rain began to fall. They had expected it. They looked up, both of them, the glowing, large meteorite approaching inexorably. They
turned their heads, knowing these were their last breaths, and decided to seize it together. Grzesiek gently moved
his lips to Wiktoria's and slowly, incredibly gently, passionately, they began their last kiss. Their eyes were
closed. Deeply gazing into each other's souls, they were not afraid. They lived their love. They were one and breathing, one air.
Their hands didn't seek each other out. They were connected. The entire sight. An incredible, magical image
of love, it looked like a dance. An unearthly, delightful dance. Not of two bodies, but of one soul
