Mushroom and Pork Pies



Ingredients
Flour 2.2 cups
Salt 3 tsp
Butter 10 tbsp
Egg 1
Water 0.3 cups
Olive oil 2 tbsp
White onion 0.2 cups
Garlic 2 cloves
Mushrooms 0.5 cup
Ground pork 1 cup
Tomato 1 cup
Red bell pepper 0.5 cup
Ground black pepper 0.5 tsp
Smoked paprika 1 tsp
Red chili pepper 1 tsp
Butter 0.2 cups

First, prepare the dough. In a blender, combine 1.5 cups of flour and salt. Add the butter to the flour and continue blending. Then add more flour and blend until smooth.

 In a small bowl, beat the egg, add water, and then add the mixture to the flour mixture. Mix thoroughly.

Roll the dough into a ball, transfer to a container, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Now, prepare the filling for the pies. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. In the heated oil, fry the chopped onion for about 3 minutes, until it changes color.

Add finely chopped garlic and sliced mushrooms to the onion. Fry until the mushrooms are soft. Add more oil if needed.

Add ground pork, chopped tomatoes, and red bell pepper to the frying pan with the mushrooms and vegetables. Season the filling. Cook until the ground pork is cooked through (about 8 minutes).

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Once the dough has chilled, remove it from the refrigerator and roll it out thinly. Cut the dough into 15 x 20 cm rectangles. Place 0.25 cups of filling on the edge of each rectangle, leaving at least 2.5 cm from each edge.

Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges tightly together. Transfer the pies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and greased with butter. Brush the pies with melted butter and sprinkle with salt.

Bake the pies at 200°C for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
