Tatzelwurm 2

In 1924, two hikers found the skeleton of a 5-foot-long (1.5-meter) reptile-like creature. In 1928, a photographer traveling in the Alps stumbled upon a dragon-like monster in a stream. Unfortunately, the photograph, taken in 1934, most likely turned out to be a hoax.

The Pyrenees , located between Spain and France, may also harbor creatures similar to the tatzelwurm. The reptilian animal appeared in Ossum, France, at the end of the 19th century, and again in 1939. Encounters with unidentified snakes have also been reported in Spain, including Albacete (1969), Alicante (1970), and Cáceres (1973).

Bernard Heuvelmans claimed that the tatzelwurm was a member of the lizard family, which also includes the venomous Heloderms of North America. Unfortunately, it appears that the tatzelwurm, if it existed, is now completely extinct. The last reported sightings date back to the 1930s.
